I'm using a new computer, 2 weeks old with Win7 64 bit OEM as the original install.
I've been installing software and did an acronis true image home 11 backup of the boot drive.
I got a BSOD during the Acronis imaging and have not seen one since.
Should I be concerned as this is a new system?
Any ideas on what caused the crash?
What file in the zip tells you what caused the crash?
Are my dump settings correct? See Debug settings.jpg
Thanks for the help.

Your debugging information should be set to mini dump rather than memory dump. See the last part of the first post in this tutorial and set your system as shown it that snip. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83172-dump-files-upload-seven-forums.html

Acronis generally runs pretty well with Win 7; but I have it cause BSOD's on a few Win 7 systems. I would not worry about it unless it happens again. Something else could have caused a conflict with Acronis.

We use the mini dump files (.dmp) to try and determine what caused the crash. I say try, because the dump file do not always point to a specific cause.

You did get one mini dump. It is a bugcheck A, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and does not tell us much. It blames memory corruption and it does show that TrueImage was running during the crash.

I recommend that you update the following drivers. Outdated drivers can and do cause memory corruption and BSOD's. One driver is quite obsolete.
DgiVecp.sys 3/2/2009 - IEEE-1284 parallel class driver for ECP, Byte, and Nibble modes, Samsung ML-2150 Series PCL 6. Samsung.

iaStorV.sys Wed Apr 08 12:57:17 2009 - Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (base). http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx.

wacommousefilter.sys Fri Feb 16 13:12:17 2007 - Wacom(tablet) Mouse Filter. Wacom Hardware Drivers. Update this driver or rename it it. See note below.
   Note
Renaming drivers: create a restore point, using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the driver files, and rename them from .sys to .old. Reboot and the drivers will not load. This will break whatever software or hardware these drivers are associated with.

Update these three drivers (or rename), reboot and see how your system does. Please post back and let us know. Set your system for mini dumps and if you get and another BSOD, upload the dmp file to us.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffd80012bcc80, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
    bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80003cfab7f, address which referenced memory

Is "small memory dump" the correct setting? The link you refer to is broken.

Am I better off getting the latest drivers from Intel or from my MB manufacturer? Intel site says my only driver that is not up to date is the one for Intel Desktop Board 7.027.0920.2010. It doesn't give the option to download iaStorV.sys only.

Does it matter that I have a lot of errors and warnings in my event log some of which refer to cdrbsdrv.sys?

BTW thanks so much for taking the time to help me.

Yes, small memory dump is the correct setting. Thank you for telling me that link is broken. I reported it to the author of the tutorial.

Getting them from Intel is best. Don't worry about iaStorV for now.

Does it matter that I have a lot of errors and warnings in my event log some of which refer to cdrbsdrv.sys?
cdrbsdrv.sys - CD-ROM Filter Driver, B's Recorder GOLD by B.H.A Corporation. ADSL‚ð—˜—p‚·‚é‘O‚É. This driver is up to date. Chances are it is being affected by something else. If updating the drivers I listed (ignore iaStorV.sys) does not help your system, you can try uninstalling Recorder Gold and see what affect that has.

BTW thanks so much for taking the time to help me.
You are very welcome for the help.

Update: I figured out that the driver DgiVecp is not from the samsung printer but actually coming from Samsung PC Share Manager to send content to my TV. I renamed the driver and got an errror for PC Share Manager. I'm going to try use Win7 DLNA instead of the Samsung app. The drivers for the Wacom are the latest available.

So far I've had no more BSOD.

2nd BSOD

I just got my 2nd BSOD when booting up my computer.
What has caused the error?
Is there a place to download the program to read the dump file?
Is there a way to know if it's a hardware problem vs due to software I've installed?

BTW the Samsung Share Manager is the latest version. I've not deleted it yet as I've not gotten DLNA working yet.

Most of us here use WinDbg to view the dumps - but there is a whole lot to setting it up. You can try Blue Screen View.

The dump you uploaded is Bugcheck A, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. This is usually caused by a Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility. The dump blames memory corruption for the crash. Memory corruption can be caused by outdated drivers, software or hardware conflicts, or bad RAM. The most common cause is drivers. Your dump does not give a specific cause.

You have three out of date drivers loaded on your system. Two are very obsolete. One is an XP driver.

DgiVecp.sys 3/2/2009 - IEEE-1284 parallel class driver for ECP, Byte, and Nibble modes, Samsung ML-2150 Series PCL 6. Samsung. DgiVecp is still loading. If you cannot update this driver, the software is obsolete. Uninstall PC Share Manager and upgrade to software certified compatible with Win 7.

SSPORT.sys Thu Aug 11 19:07:32 2005 - Samsung printer driver. Samsung. This is an XP driver and is not going to work properly on a Win 7 system. This driver is not necessary for your printer to work. Rename it from .sys to .old.

wacommousefilter.sys Fri Feb 16 13:12:17 2007 - Wacom(tablet) Mouse Filter. Wacom Hardware Drivers. Update this driver or rename it. If there is no update for this driver the hardware it is associated with is obsolete; it is not Win 7 compatible.

At this point, I think you have a driver problem as opposed to a hardware problem. You won't know until you update or rename the outdated drivers and see how your system runs. When no specific cause for a crash is given in the dumps, you have to troubleshoot by the process of elimination. Since drivers are the most common causes, I usually start with drivers.

CarlTR6,
Thanks for your advice. I have
1) Uninstalled Uninstall PC Share Manager to get rid of DgiVecp.sys 3/2/2009
2) Renamed SSPORT.sys to SSPORT.sys.old So far no printer problems.
3) Renamed wacommousefilter.sys wacommousefilter.sys.old Pens still works on Wacom tablet but mouse for it doesn't which I never use so it's not a problem.

Will let you know if I get any further BSOD.

Did my BSOD on bootup create a minidump file? I don't see a new on just the old one from 1/9/11.

You are very welcome. Good job of following suggesting and reporting back with what have done. I was curious as to whether the pens would still work. Thanks for information.

The BSOD on bootup apparently did not create a dump. You are correct; the one I looked at is dated 1/9/11.

Post back in two or three days and let us know how your system is doing. If you get anohter BSOD, upload it we will go from there.

3rd BSOD

I had an interesting evening. It's snowing here and have had multiple short power failures. Fortunately I have a battery backup so most didn't not shutdown the computer but 2 did (maybe new computer is draws more power that it can deal with for more that a second or two). After my reboot I did an acronis backup of my system with the new driver changes. After it completed I browsed the directories where the backup was located. I might have open up firefox but don't 100% remember.
Then I got a BSOD with the nvlddmkm.sys driver in the error and the computer gave this msg after reboot.

Carl,
Do you think my recent problems are related to the power failure? Should I wait to see if another BSOD occurs?
Why did you pick the 3 drivers as I noticed there are others from 2007 on the system?

Carl,

Why did you pick the 3 drivers as I noticed there are others from 2007 on the system?
I waited to see if you had another BSOD since the power outages. The outages could have triggered the BSOD. By the way, you may need a new battery in your UPS. I need a new one; mine barely gives me time to shut down. I used to be able run for about 15 minutes with it.

I picked the three drivers because they were shown in the dumps. You will have a lot of drivers on your hard drive that are not used by Win 7 with your particular hardware and software setup. Apparently those 2007 drivers you found are not loading on your system.

Your latest dump does not tell us very much except that DgiVecp.sys is still loading on your system. Do a search of your C: drive for DgiVecp.sys using Windows Explorer and rename every instance of it from .sys to .old. Reboot and it will not load. This will break whatever DgiVecp.sys is associated with. All of your other drivers appear to be up to date. Good job!

Carl,
I was away over the weekend so I decided to run Memtest-86 3.5a. That version didn't run but the older version choice #3 (don't remember the version ?3.4) did work and after 10 passes, 34:35:11 showed no errors.

There were multiple locations for the DgiVecp.sys driver. After doing a search on the C: drive I called up the snipping by typing "snip" in the run box and hit enter. I than got another BSOD. Dump enclosed. Unfortunately it happened before I renamed the other drivers.

After a reboot I renamed all instances of DgiVecp.sys and SSPORT.sys which also had multiple instances. I will let you know if further BSOD occur at this point.

I contacted my system builder to see what advice they may have. I gave the the dump files they requested and their conclusion was:
"The crash dump files indicate it is failing RAM. To see if we can find which stick it is, remove all but one stick from your motherboard. If the system does not crash after the usual time frame, remove that stick and replace with another. Move through the entire kit until the system crashes and we find the defective stick."

After I told him I ran the memtest-86 for 10 passes without error. Thank god for this forum and the generosity of the moderators in helping people like myself.

As an aside I look into the replacing my UPS battery. It turns out it's an Tripp Lite Omni1000LCD which is not meant to have it's battery replaced. I also found out that my Corsair 850 Hx PSU requires a UPS that does sign waves (ie. more expensive) as opposed to square waves like my current unit. If I'm able to crack open the cases do you think my UPS would function and not damage my computer as it did work 4/6 time during short power failures?

PS so far no BSOD noted will keep you updated.

Great news about no further BSOD's.

Regarding the UPS, I would suggest upgrading to a better UPS that meets the specs of your PSU. That said, I do not use the UPS software that came with mine to automatically shutdown the computer. I didn't even install the software. I shut mine down manually.

Carl,
I'm sad to report another BSOD. Is it unusual for this to happen so randomly?

Is it possible that my memory is bad despite the 10 passes of memtest (used older version as current wouldn't run on my computer) as my system builder suggested?

No, it is not unusual for BSOD's to occur randomly. Your latest dump is Bugcheck D5, DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_IN_FREED_SPECIAL_POOL. Usually caused by device driver. The dump directly blames ATMFD.DLL
(Windows NT OpenType/Type 1 Font Driver) is a component from the software Adobe Type Manager version 5.1.225 by Adobe Systems Incorporated. atmfd.dll version 5.1.225 is most commonly found under the directory "system32" with a creation date of August 23, 2001.
I suggest that you upgrade your Adobe software. The above indicates the .dll is an NT .dll. This means it is XP/Windows 2000 software.

I also found a driver that could be a problem:
cdrbsdrv.SYS Tue Jun 16 23:37:33 2009 - CD-ROM Filter Driver for Windows2000/xp belongs to the software B's Recorder GOLD by B.H.A Corporation. ADSL‚ð—˜—p‚·‚é‘O‚É.
I recommend that you get a recorder certified compatible with Win 7.

When you ran Memtest, did you run it from a cold boot after your computer had been off for an hour of so? If not, I suggest you run it again following the instructions is this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html. Run Memtest for a minimum of seven passes. Post back with your results.

If Memtest shows no errors, enable Driver Verifier carefully following the instructions in this tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Use your computer normally while Verifier is running. Verifier will trigger a BSOD if it finds a faulty driver. Upload all Verifier enabled dumps.

I searched my computer for ATMFD.DLL and found this.

The version is
View attachment 138769

I ran all my adobe programs and the only one that needed an update was Adobe Extension Manager. I'm not sure if there is an update to ATMFD.DLL.

Should I rename cdrbsdrv.sys to see what software stops working? Typically I use Nero.

I don't think it was done from a cold boot. I used Memtest86_3.5a.iso not Memtest86+ 4.2 It took 34 hours to do 10 passes so I'll have to wait till I'm going to be away as overnight won't do it.

I renamed my cdrbsdrv.sys to cdrbsdrv.sys.old in the windows\system32\Drivers and SYSWOW64\Drivers directories. After rebooting my computer I ran Nero and my Bluray Burner was not on the list of available drives.

Good detective work. Blueray is a problem with Win 7. Win 7 does not seem to support Bluray. Try running for a while with that driver renamed and see if your problems go away. If they do, you don't need to run Memtest again.

Don't forget that the dump directly blames ATMFD.DLLfor the crash. It is always possible that something else conflicted with it. Your version of Adobe, based on your snip, is pre Win 7. The file description is Windows NT Open Type... Win 7 is not an NT based OS.
