Hi,

This PC which has been stable for 2 years has started to BSOD every couple of days. No new SW on the PC, except possibly updated iTunes and standard Windows updates. Running Win7 Home Premium 64. Also in the logs, there are frequent "controller errors on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1". Not sure if they are related.

Here is SF zip file. I also have full memory.dmp, but windbg is not able to process it correctly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jonatha1

So we start from a particular point.

First of all, uninstall McAfee and Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows.

Let us know the result. Depend on the result, we will decide the next course of action.

Hi Arc,

Thanks very much... I will try without McAfee first.

BTW here is more info, from full memory.dmp via windbg64. Does this shed any light?

Regards,
Jonatha1

Hi Jonathan... there is nothing special in it, unfortunately.

Let me now the situation after uninstalling McAfee.

We have plans on our next actions, if it is not fixed yet.

Hi Arc,

Happened again (i.e., without Mcafee) ... I was not using the PC but came back to find it stuck on boot screen.

Same bugcheck data.

I noticed that there is a Skype that was installed about a month ago. I uninstalled it.

I am also curious, whether the controller errors are related and/or a HW issue. This PC has 2 weeks left under warranty. If it is a failing component, cable, disc or even mainboard I would like to be able to have it replaced under warranty.

2 other comments:

1) The iTunes program that I installed a year ago now does not run. It complains of a missing file. Possibly all the reboots were messing with the file system, or ?

2) The bugcheck always seems to happen in the iexplore context. I don't have any add-ons to iexplore that I know of.

Do any of my drivers look out of date? Oldest I see is secdrv.sys from 2006.

Thanks,
Jonatha1

Jonathan, as he crash dumps are not showing any finite cause, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.
