Hi,
My PC has experiencing 4A BSOD randomly for the last 3-4 weeks. It usually occurred a few hours after the computer was started, while playing games (also crashed while watching a movie via Amazon Prime). But could then crash 3-4 times within the space of 30 mins; so I deleted the Graphics and Network card drivers and installed the latest versions. I also ran a full virus scan with no issues identified. This appeared to address the issue so I left it, but it only appears to have reduced the number of occurrences. It is now happening at least once a day and it usually occurs a few hours after I start gaming, it then seems to be alright for a while.
The PC was built 1 year ago, but did not have any issues before the BSOD started occurring 3-4 weeks ago, I have not installed any new hardware in at least 6 months. I am less sure about the timing when I last installed new software, but I typical only install new games.
Having read a few threads on various forums, I was hoping that someone would be able to help me identify what driver might be causing the issue via the minidumps.
Unfortunately I don’t have access to the PC at the moment but can download the DM Log Collector later and post the results in a subsequent post if the minidumps are insufficient.
Many thanks

Hello and welcome Pyro I am no expert but I do see some references to the Bitdefender in the dump files - ie Vsserv.exe - just what it means I am not sure because I don't have it referenced in the debug kit.

Now you may have a look at this and let us know what is happening on your machine.
What is the vsserv.exe process?

Hi

I had a look at the link and have looked at Task manager but i can only see that file when i look at all users in task manager. I do use bit defender but i am usually in a game when the BSOD happens so do not know what the CPU usage of the process looks like.

I have attached the DM Log Collector File.

thanks

Ok mate can you send a send a shot of that Manager screen when it is fully filled and I have to go offline right now as it is nearly my bed time - working night shift and it is morning;)

Oh the Bitdefender I only referenced because of some Googles that threw up some problems it (like many others) can cause I use Kaspersky and it although good can be a bit of a hog at times and also "buggy".

Ok now if you look at that list of processes you sent you will notice two csrss.exe entries se pic.

Now if you are the only user on this machine it could mean that one entry is a virus see this Is csrss.exe a safe process ? - Microsoft Community > see what the moderator says in the first answer.

The other thing I see is there are a lot of entries for Chrome and totaling them up comes to a large number when processes are running - any reason?.
But what I would suggest is to run these
http://www.superantispyware.com/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(with ADW if you are running Kaspersky it will throw it up as malware just override Kaspersky)
if these do not work then try this

Hi

I read the csrss.exe link and think it is ok as i was showing all users so it says there should be two, when i show only one user there is only one. Additionally i have switched off all unnecessary programs at start up and attached new screen shots of the processes.

I ran all three of the linked softwares and the worst thing they found were tracking cookies.

Ok I was thinking you were the only user and the scans well they are fairly light on stuff. As for the Start up tab programs I usually switch all mine off unless I am using the prepaid wifi - some like to leave just the security suite to load but it doesn't bother me.

The rescue disk is another scan that I would personally run even though it means making a bootable disk at least it scans without Windows being involved at all. But that is your choice I am just trying to eliminate whatever may be there.

I think it might be time to ask for some help on this one as the only other reference I can see is for the ntoskrnl.exe being or having the wrong symbols and I reckon it would be better for someone else to take a look as I am not totally sure as to what that is all about.

Hi

I wanted to test the PC after i had cleared the programs that run at start up but before uninstalling BitDefender in order to check. Have run the PC for a couple of weeks now and have not encountered any Blue Screens.

Solution: Ran Anti-virus, Switched off majority of programs set to run on PC start up.

Thanks for the help guys.

Good fix then personally I don't have anything set in the Start up tab in msconfig - security if I have to and haven't had any problems.

If I didn't mention it before this is a good tutorial for setting up for better performance and this is how I do that
OPTMISING WINDOWS 7
If you want to improve the performance of your machine by doing a few tweaks then see this
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html it does include a few changes to the registry and while Brink has laid out the tweaks to the registry in a way that is infallible I still recommend – unless you are comfortable and confident in working in the registry – suggest that you back up the registry using this
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/4230-registry-backup-restore.html it is just in case you might hit the wrong keys or change any values in the registry that result in the machine becoming unusable or at least it not running in any orderly manner.
Now just for those who do their own installs and work on their machines – I personally run the registry back up as soon a possible after doing a clean install as a safety measure against anything corrupting the registry whether it is self inflicted or via malware for example. This can be done backing up to any device including your C: drive, external hard drive/s or USB sticks – eve onto an optical disk if you prefer. Furthermore I always make two copies for good measure on two different types of media.
