My netbook has crashed multiple times while I was using various programs, like Skype, Google Chrome and Winamp, and sometimes even before I could start any program. I've looked through the dump files using Bluescreenview, and while problematic files in the list may vary, ntkrnlpa.exe is always among them.

Please help, I didn't even finish paying my credit for the netbook, it'd be very sad if it becomes unusable because of crashing all the time

Hi

Please test your ram.... with memtest. follow this tutorial atleast for 6- 8 passes... if you get any errors then you have to replace the RAM.

If the above passes without any errors.... please let us know the SMART values of your Harddrive.. you can use this tool to check . post a snapshot of it .

Ummm, I don't have an anti-virus, but I did what you said anyway... The driver didn't need updating, though, I updated it recently.

What was supposed to change?

You don't have an Anti Virus Installed? Seriously? Why Not?

Comes from my previous netbook, I guess. I had Asus EeePC 901, and it had hard drives C:\ and D:\ of 3,5 GB and 7 GB respectively. After my dad got Windows 7 on it, C:\ kept running out of disk space to the point I had to constantly delete all the Google Update files from Chrome folder to keep free disk space somewhere around 50-100 MB. My Windows was really outdated for the same reason, I could never install any updates because there was no space. Mind you, Chrome and some necessary programs like Adobe Flash were the only things I ever installed on C:\, and only because I couldn't put them on D:\. No other programs were there.
Also, it was very, very slow as it was, and I didn't want to slow it down even further, so no anti-virus for me.

Soooo, yeah... That's why it didn't cross my mind to get a good, fully-functional anti-virus. I just use Dr.Web Cure-It and AVZ when I suspect something is wrong.

P.S. Flash scan found nothing, doing Quick scan now.
Edit: Quick scan found nothing, either, doing Full scan now.
Edit2: Full scan found 1 Trojan in Warcraft III folder on D:\ drive.

So now what do I do?

Remove it and install MSE (microsoft security essential )

First Please update you Bios version....to 0601 for Asus Eee PC X101H download list

Because I'm a n00b and didn't know it was too much... :o

and to top that you have only 1 GB ram running on a netbook !!!
Well, that's what it came with...

I hope you have done what Antony has asked you on the stratup items if not remove below from startup.....
I did. I have to ask, though, why should I remove the items made by ASUS? Including hotkeys. Like, I can't change the volume from the keyboard now, because I need to press Fn+F12, and Fn won't work without those. Same with PageUp and PageDown.

At the moment, we are troubleshooting and don't know the cause of the problem.... there are some cases where Asus utility was the cause of concern.... Once we isolate the problem... you can then enable the hotkeys for the volume...
