I am having a real problem tracking this problem down. The machine behaves perfectly during normal use but if a I walk away and leave it, typically, after about 50 minutes I get a BSOD. I have tried starting in Safe Mode (seemed as though this fixed the problem although I can't be sure). Tried running MSCONFIG in diagnsotic start up and this also SEEMED to work. I had some mapped drives to my QNAP NAS and thought that might be the problem (I know W7 can misbehave with Samba shares) and so I disconnected them but the problem is still there. I attach the zip from the Diagnostic Tool. BTW all hardware has undergone extensive soak testing and I believe the machine is running well under specification in all respects. Please help.

Hello wbmat and welcome to the forums,

I had a look through your files, and most of your BSOD dump files are very silent about the cause, however there was one that pointed to the video card driver as the problem so let us start there:

Code:

I had a look at the time stamp on the driver and it happens to be one that was released and found to be problematic (at least on this particular forum):

BSOD after machine idel for around 50 minutes

I have been struggling with this for some weeks. The machine behaves perfectly when in normal use but after around 50 minutes of idle time, it BSODs with same error message. I have tried starting in Safe mode (which seemed to fix the problem but probably isn't very helpful!), setting MSCONFIG to start in diagnostic mode (which seemed to help but I can't be sure). I also disconnected mapped drives to my NAS as I understand W7 sometime misbehaves with Samba shares but this didn't fix the problem. I attach the dignostic zip.

OK so please ignore my above post I feel rather foolish just went back and looked at your newer dump files and saw that the driver in question has already been updated so I will now revise what I have said. The new BSODs are of the 0xA variety one of the major causes of this type of BSOD is antivirus software, so please do the following:

Remove McAfee using the McAfee Removal Tool, Remove Webroot and replace them with a combination of MSE and Mbam. Tip: Be sure to uncheck the box offering to start a free trial when installing Mbam. Note: this is for testing purposes if it is found that they are not the cause of the BSODs then you may reinstall them.

After replacing them test and see if the BSOD occurs again.

Uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Free up the startup.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

Have installed MSE and MBAM as recommended. It's 5.20pm here in UK so I'll set the system running overnight and will give feedback tomorrow.

Nice to know that your issue is over.:)
BTW, it seems that it was multiple threads and merged?
