BSOD after about an hour of use, Bug Code 0x00000124

My computer dies intermittently ("randomly", as some might say) while doing menial tasks such as surfing the web, or unzipping a file, or even while i'm away from my computer while not running any programs.

All of this started after simply installing a Noctua air cooler.

The full error code is: 0x00000124 00000000`00000000 fffffa80`071e5028 00000000`bf800000 00000000`00000124

I have read and reread threads with the same bug code and similar BSOD symptoms and tried the suggested fixes without any success.

I have tried:
-booting to a different hard drive, same issue
-uninstalling Daemon Tools (made BSOD much less frequent. but not fixed)
-Systematically exchanged sticks of RAM in different RAM slots
-Updated microsoft net framework to .Net framework 4 (update failed)
-running microsoft debugging software (installation failed)

You, dear sevenforums community, are my last beacon of hope before my Computer gets tossed into the Baltic.... :) Any help would be greatly appreciated

PS - and this might be really important - while foolishly dusting out my computer next to some open flames, the aerosol ignited and a gigantic ball of fire expanded out from my computer case and engulfed my head in flames for a brief period of time. I can live without my eyebrows, but not my computer...

Much love, and so many thanks.... zip info attached

Thanks for your reply Axe0... I will do exactly those steps.

Until then, are you able to understand the diagnostic zip file that I attached in my post? I followed the forum instructions to run the diagnostic and upload the zip file, but so far I haven't received any feedback on what might be wrong.

Anyways, I will run those tests you suggested tonight and post the results.

Thanks again mate!

The problem I see is a low minimum transfer rate of your HDD, but that may not be due to the HDD itself but could also be due to the cable or mobo connection.
Because of this I would suggest to test the HDD on another system.

Hi Axe0,

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to look at the test results and to explain that you see a low transfer rate on my HDD. I would like to mention that I am getting the same BSOD and bug code when I boot to my solid state drive on the same computer.

Do you think that means there's something wrong with my motherboard? I had a fire inside the computer case when I was cleaning it about a month ago... If that's the case, I will need a new motherboard:(

Thanks again,

-A

yes, using the exact same power cable, but using a different SATA cable...

Unfortunately, I cannot currently run the diagnostic tool on my SSD. Would you care to see the minidump file?

Cheers,

I think a minidump won't be necessary a.t.m.

I had a fire inside the computer case when I was cleaning it about a month ago...
Question 1, how did the fire start?

Question 2, what parts were hit by the fire?

Question 3, how did you kill the fire?

Thanks for the response. Here are answers to your questions:

Question 1, how did the fire start?
-I was stupidly using computer cleaner (aerosol) on my computer while there were candles nearby. The aerosol ignited inside my computer case

Question 2, what parts were hit by the fire?
-Imagine my computer lying on its side with the side panel open. The ball of fire occurred between my graphics card and powersupply. The closest hardware was my motherboard, power supply, and GPU. A little further away are my hard drives. The furthest thing away was my CPU.

Question 3, how did you kill the fire?
-The fire was instant. It died on its own after perhaps 2 seconds

I would also like to mention that I have tried changing SATA ports for each hard drive. The power cable is a serial power cable that connects each hard drive in a series.

Thanks!

A question I forgot, I may ask more things depending on your answer.
- What did you do after the fire died? Please describe it in detail, preferrable add lots of irrelevant information with all relevant information included (better than forgetting relevant information).

I'm very very sorry for my delay... I have been out of town:(

Before the fire, I installed a Noctua air cooler after removing my Corsair H80i water cooler.

I then started spraying aerosol computer cleaner/duster, which caused the short fire.

Immediately after the fire (which only lasted a couple seconds):

-I waved some air into my computer case while it was still on its side using a towl
-I looked for physical damage on my computer for about 2 minutes. I looked at every part to see if anything burned. None of the computer hardware had any visible physical damage. But, there was some burning damage to some plastic on the case/chasis. None of the power lines appeared to be damaged.
-I then blew out the candles on the table.
-I then did nothing for about 2 minutes... just panicked.
-Then, I continued to use the computer cleaner aerosol spray to remove the extra dust.
-Afterwards, I checked all connections to make sure everything was fitting properly.
-I double-checked that all of the connections for the Noctua air cooler were fitting properly
-I then picked up my computer, turned it right-side-up, carried it to my office and plugged it in.
-I then tried starting my computer. The cooling fans were loud, so I shut my computer down and installed the Noctua resistor that was included with the cooling unit to reduce fan voltage and slow the fans down.
-I turned my computer on, heard that it was now quiet, and turned it off again.
-I also installed 2 new sticks of 8gb G-skull RAM (I can't remember if I did this before or after installing the fan resistor)
-For a while, everything seemed okay. But, after a while, maybe 30 minutes, I got that horrible BSOD :(
-After that, I tried updating drivers, and also removing startup programs that I don't need. Everything got worse from there....

I would like to make one more point. I feel that the most common time that I get the BSOD is when I'm watching a YouTube video or streaming video like the Simpsons from streaming sites. But, this could be my imagination, because I am also getting the same BSOD when I'm doing computer programming and NOT streaming video.
