Hello,

I have a acer aspire timelineX running windows 7 and jus recently when I turned it on, it popped up with a screen that said windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be the problem. It gave me2 choices on a black screen "start windows normally or launch startup repair.

I clicked start windows normally, because I thought it might just be cuz I turned it off by holding the power button. it then went to the starting windows icon, loaded that, then it went to the blue screen of death for 1 second, then restarted.

So the I clicked launch startup repair. It gave me a loading bar across the bottom and said "windows is loading files...". It loaded and then the screen went black for a bit. After that, it came to the user name screen (blue screen with a leaf and a hummingbird, couple lines) yet there were no users...I could move the mouse and it was fully loaded but nothing to select.

I looked on utube and it said to press f8 while booting up and select safe mode, so I tried this, and it loaded windows files, and stopped at "windows/system32/DRIVERS/CLASSPNP.sys" then it did what the repair did, went blue screen of death for a second, then restarted. Please help me!

Thanks, will

Even if I could do a system restore, that would be awesome, I don't have anything I need on it, it would be useful to have, but I need a laptop more.

Suggest running a hard disk diagnostic using the tools provided by your hard disk manufacturer. You can find the manufacturer of the drive in the BIOS, often. Use the steps in HD Diagnostic to find your diagnostic utilities.

Running a diagnostic utility does not require booting into Windows if you download and burn the bootable version to disc.

Were you able to run the diagnostic utility?
