First thx for volunteering your time to help all us...

This is a computer that is NOT a server despite the computer name but a desktop I setup in our small 5 person volunteer office to have a machine to place files on and I created mapped share drives for all use to pull from it.

I installed Win7 in October 2013 set it to do no Windows Update and it has been fine until Jan 2014 where I come in see a BSOD. The PC is not used just sits as a file share so have made no software changes unless hardware is failing.

Yesterday I did all the Windows Updates in hopes it could fix the issue. There was a Windows Update for Graphics which has aused BSOD on some my older machines... On Graphics, The update from Lenovo was older than what was on the PC and MS Windows Update was more current so I picked MS.

After all that...got the BSOD again and I had JUST turned on logging for the minidump.... I have uploaded the file using your tool...

Thx

Koolkat77,

I have the Win7 machine to create the dump file but when it crashes it does not create one. It is set to not reboot and selected to put the file in the systemroot/minidump folder but it does not... I tried to change the path c:\temp and still when it BSOD it did not create it... When it dumps the BSOD

collecting data for crash dump...
initializing disk for crash dump...

All I have but I get no file. Do I have another option Sir?

Paracou, Could I possibly get you to fill out the system specs as complete as possible. It will help us to help you. This will help you (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html) to see what we want, at the bottom of this post, click on 'My system Specs' and you will see mine. You can use the method in the tutorial linked above or click My system specs in your post and you will have a link to edit your system specs. Just be sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If it is a pre built OEM computer please add the model number.

This will help you configure Windows to create a dump file http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html . We would like the small mini dump files if possible.

Also, try clicking the start button and type device manager in the search box. Expand display drivers, right click your graphics card and select properties. Go to the driver page and select the button that says roll back driver and reboot. See if that helps.

Before doing that look at the display driver you have installed now and tell us the version of it and the provider, if possible.

Also, as kookkat recommended, download the diagnostic program from your hard drive manufacturer and if you have the option, use the DOS test. It runs from Ram and is better at checking for errors while the hard drive is not in use. Please run the long and the short test.

Also, please go to Windows Update and in the left column is a listing for Update History. Please tell us if and which ones failed.

When you have completed the tests that Koolkat and I have suggested, please advise us of the results. You may feel free to update us on your progress and ask any questions or report anything noteworthy as you think of it. Feel free to ask any questions you like. We do not mind explaining why we are requesting anything. Just remember, you are our eyes and ears. We can't see anything that is happening, we have to depend on your descriptions.
