before a resent reinstall of windows i was gettiing plagued with these bluescreens constantly, they apear around an hour since being on, during all games, payday 2, Faster than light. a game may not even be on, ill be idling in a browser talking to a friend on teamspeak and it will blue screen, sometimes it will be 1000007e, others i will see a message at the top saying System_Service_Exception.

last night i decided to do a windows update and i went away for 5 minutes when it started installing and when i got back it was on the windows recovery screen, windows wouldnt recover or start again, so this is a reinstall, fresh everything, but i just got another blue screen, here are the results in the attachment.

Hello Gnomorian,

Hmm this sounds like Windows Update problem, and sadly I don't have the required knowledge to assist you with that.
I have asked someone to take a look at this, please be patient until then.

----------

In the mean while, please follow there instructions;

Please use the SFC /SCANNOW command as displayed in option two of this tutorial.

  1. Click on the :orb:.
  2. Open an elevated command prompt.
  3. Type "SFC /SCANNOW" without the quotations.
  4. Let SFC do it's thing, and then prompted to, restart.

If SFC found and repaired anything, please do the following:
  5. When restarted, open an elevated command prompt.
  6. Type (or copy) the following, this will create a .txt file on your desktop;
    findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
  7. In your next reply, please attach this file using the method displayed in this tutorial.

----------

:ar: Please follow the Windows Update posting instructions (No need to follow step 5)
:ar: Please follow the Windows Genuine and Activation posting instructions and post the log created between

tags.

Good luck and keep us posted,

Helo Nommy,

thanks for the help so far, i continued with the update, when i restarted it installed what was left, i did have a blue screen while installing at one point but it didnt ruin the installation this time, i was looking at a youtube video and downloaded a software called bluescreen viewer and it showed the crash was from ntoskrnl.exe and a quick google search showd it handles memory, i know i have 2 sticks in my system that run at a different speed, i took them out ahd havent had a system_service_exception or SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error since, but i have now been getting a different error (to no surprises there)

this new blue screen has an id of 0x00000124 and is caused by hal.dll aparently, i ran the sfc/scannow and it said everything is fine (file is attached) as well as the SystemInfo txt and MSINFO32 as earlier requested after updates.

thanks again, wil

Hello Gnomorian,

Please again follow the BSOD Posting Instructions and upload the .zip file created so that we can analyze your problem.

----------

I noticed the cause of the dump files, but I thought it would be best to first fix one problem before starting with the second:D Good that you resolved it though

Still, if you feel like scanning the RAM sticks, you could follow the following;

Please run Memtest86+ to test your RAM for issues.

   Tip
Let Memtest run for at least 10 passes and preferably overnight as it may take very long to complete.
:ar: Especially read part three of the tutorial, which explains you to test each RAM stick in all DIMM slots to filter out failing slots.
Suppose you have got the result like that:
test|Slot1|Slot2
RAM1| Error | Error
RAM2|Good|Good
It is a RAM, a bad RAM.

But if you have got a result like that:
test|Slot1|Slot2
RAM1| Error |Good
RAM2| Error |Good
It is a motherboard issue. The particular slot is bad.
----------

Please also preform the scans I asked for in post #4.
In order to assist you with the problems you are encountering with Windows Updates we need the proper information from your machine:)

----------

Hmmm, according to your MSINFO and SystemInfo you are still running Windows 7 RTM (RTM = Released to Manufacturing; it's the version before SP1). Did the update finish, and if yes, did you restart your machine afterwards?
Do note that this may also be so because of the Windows Update problems you are experiencing. In that case - someone will be here shortly to assist you with fixing those:)

Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy

5 minutes before I read your latest post the hal error was replaced by the system__service_exception error again, i a currently doing the memory test, it is on sweep 5 and has just found an error, it is not telling me the channel it was in but this was the result:
test 6
pass 5
failing address 00097998358-24.25mb
good fffffffe
bad feffffffe
err-bits 01000000
count 1
chan

chan was blank

I haven't got anything else for you yet as it is still scanning, but thought i'ed let you know there was an error, if you can make anything from it

Hello Gnomorian,

Thanks for the update:)
We already suspected bad RAM to be a part of the problem, so this only confirms it. If you have tested all sticks in all DIMM slots then you should know which stick or slot gives what errors. My advise would me to replace all bad RAM (RMA it if still within warranty) and run Memtest again after that to be sure.

Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy

Hello nommy,

im nneding this computer at the moment so iv stoped the memory tester for now, i have added a different stick and taken out the other two.

with the update, i downloaded the standalone updater for service pack one, that wouldn't install, and i got another bluescreen due to ntfs.dll, i seem to be collecting them all.

Hi Gnomorian,

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.

Attach CBS.zip to your next post please.

Tom

i have compressed it with 7zip, that it just under the 8mb limit then put that in a zip :)
