- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x86 (32 bit)
- the original installed OS on the system? - Original installed was Windows XP
- an OEM or full retail version? - Full retail Version
- OEM = came pre-installed on system - NO
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer - Got it in College as a Student

- What is the age of system (hardware)? - About 7 years or more
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) - Windows 7 has been installed since October of last year - http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/189765-installing-os-two-internal-hard-drives.html

I have never reinstalled it.

I will post the dump files in a few.

My problem in detail: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/189765-installing-os-two-internal-hard-drives.html

I cannot post the htnl file because the perfmon /report is giving me errors.

Error:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified.

Is there another way that I can generate the report? I've tried doing the perfmon /report but to no avail.

Edit: I have attached or tried to attach the errors to the updated zip file. I don't know if they are the same thing but I got the instructions from another thread.

I wonder if your BIOS is an issue:
Code:
BIOS Version/Date	Dell Inc. A07, 1/8/2007
It appears this is the most up to date BIOS for your system. Not sure if it poses a problem, but it is a possibility since it is five years old. I have seen old BIOS versions work fine with Windows 7, though.

The crashes you are getting indicate a problem with your hard disk or hard disk controllers. Have you run hard disk diagnostics?

Your Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) installation appears to be corrupted. I would recommend re-installing the software. See if uninstalling it in Safe Mode provides any more stability in normal mode. The corrupted MSE driver appears to be responsible for the controller crash, but it is difficult to say for sure.

I have tried the hard drive diagnostics from the boot menu and both my hard drives has passed. I cannot uninstall programs in safe mode. and I do not have enough time in regular mode to do it.

I was afraid that might be the case. I was just hoping MSE did not require the Windows Installer software. I have never tried to remove it in safe mode, so I wasn't sure. Your options are rather limited given the scenario you are facing. If you have a system image backup, you can try reverting to that after backing up any important data through the recovery options: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93347-copy-paste-windows-recovery-console.html

Otherwise, you will need to backup your important data and re-install Windows 7 again with http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 (skipping steps 1-2, 4, & 6).

It means the WindowsImageBackup file should show up when you click on the external, and not be in any other folder in the external.

I am attaching two screenshots. One of them is my external hard drive where the image is stored and the other one is in system repair where i am getting an error.

Whichever backup you want to restore from, you need to rename the backup directory to WindowsImageBackup. See http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html?ltr=B

4. You now have 1 image that you can leave at this location or move to another location..
:warn:NOTE:
  • If you renamed the WindowsImageBackup folder, then you must rename this renamed folder back to WindowsImageBackup in order to be able to restore the image.
  • If you moved the renamed WindowsImageBackup folder, then in addition to the above, you will also need to rename any other WindowsImageBackup folder at the original location before moving it back to the original location,.

Thanks. Now my external hard drive is acting up. Everytime I try to open it from my computer, windows explorer stops responding. I had the same issue a couple of months ago but after defrag and error check, everything was fine. Error check takes a whole load of time. I will get back to this tomorrow. This is my last option. Otherwise, I will send the memory for RMA and reboot the comuter.

Run Disk Check on the External with both boxes selected.

if it won't run, install free Partition Wizard and run Check File System on the external which sometimes works better and can revive an external HD.

Then just remove the number from the backup you want to be detected while it is being used to reimage your HD.

So I scanned the whole hard drive and no issues were found. The System recovery options still does not detect that I have a external hard drive which contains the system image :((

Edit: I tried it in all my USB ports but still it wasnt working.

See if you can mount the image as a VHD file in Disk Management then reimage it from there. Seems I recall this being done awhile back successfully when it wasn't detected.

Virtual Hard Disk - Create and Attach VHD

It may want to include the extant Win7 installation however so you may need to use Macrium to capture just the mounted image: Macrium - Image your system

The premium Acronis cloning/imaging app which comes free with any WD or Seagate HD in the mix is even better.
