BSOD After Installing and Running Firefox

I need help. I am running Windows Seven 32 bit and have been for a couple of years without issue.

I recently installed Firefox and a file downloading addin for Firefox. Everything was fine until I needed to restart my computer. Once I restarted everything seemed to load and I got to my desktop then immediatly I got the blue screen message. I could only get the following part of the error message before the screen went away:
0X0000008E

I can restart in safe mode but have been unable to fix the problem.

I have uploaded the info from the SF Diagnostic Tool.

Any help sure would be appreciated.

Your dump does not show any definitive reason for the error screen.
But what caught my eyes was

DISK_HARDWARE_ERROR: There was error with disk hardware

Follow this tutorial to see if your hard drive is not suffering from any problems.

Run SFC scannow as well. Reboot when it asks you to.

I did the harddrive check first and it did find errors. I ran it again to fix them. I am not sure how to fix results but below is what I got from event viewer.

I then ran the SFC /Scannow utility. It did not find anything wrong.

I am not running any antivirus software at this time. I have though run Malwarebytes since the issue came up and it did find a few issue files but it removed them. I did not run a full scan with Malwarebytes just a quick scan.

Any other suggestions?

Just by looking at some drivers, and researching them you may have more malware. Do a full scan of malwarebytes, and also install Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows and do a full scan to check for viruses to be safe.

Drivers before 2009 are known to cause problems such as BSODs. As these crash files aren't blaming this file. It is good to update it to be safe. Update ALL of your NVIDIA drivers here: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

which version of Adobe are you using ???

All the BSOD are related to 1 single process....FNP Licensing Service ..,... this is part of Adobe products... for testing purpose... i would suggest you disable this service first and then reboot your system... check if it bsod's..

(Do note that once you disable the FNP service ... you adobe software would say the license failed....we ill reenable it later once we finish troubleshooting)

Then do run the SF diag tool and post the MSinfo files.... as well as the host file

Let me know how this goes

Can you tell me where to disable FNP Licensing Service? I tried MSCONFIG but could not find it.

I figured out how to diable the FNP Licensing Service I think. I disabled it and restarted and got the same BSOD. At least I think I disabled. When I restarted in safe mode it was reset to manual, not sure itf this is something safemode does.

Also I tried to upgrade video driver. Once I did that when I restarted I got just a black screen. I was able to restart in safe mode and reinstall old video driver. I will keep digging for a different driver. I have a feeling I selected the wrong one but I am not sure. I upgrade my video card about a year ago so that I could have dual monitors. I have not had any issues with it.

I also tried installing the recommened Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows but it will not install in safe mode.

I am not sure where to turn. I do appreciate everyone's help.

Can anyone recommend what else to try?

Thanks to everyone who offered advice on how to fix my PC.

I tried working on stoping the FNP Licensing Service like Centaur 78 suggested. Once I got that stopped the BSOD has also stopped. Here is what I did to stop it, I found it on another website:
1. kill the process "FNPLicensingService.exe" from the Task Manager
2. go to \Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FLEXnet Publisher\ and delete the 2 files "FNPLicensingService.exe" and "fnp_registrations.xml" and instead create 2 folders with the same name/extension.

I am wondering could something have corrupted the FNP Licensing Service? I have run Adobe for years without issue.


Any thoughts?

FNP Licensing service.. was the faulting process... and there is something else that is causing it to fault..

You donot need to delete it ... but rather rename it ... but anyways... we have got the BSOD to stop for the time being....

Now we need to find what causing this service to fault !

So for that i need to get all the files from SF diag tool....all i have from the latest upload is the dump and the logs... the msinfo32 is missing and the driver list as well... Please upload these two files as well

If you are having difficulty getting the msinfo file... then click in Start > run and type "msinfo32"

Once open... click on file > save and save it in .nfo format and upload here


The posted system logs are only till 4th June 2012.

Please go to event viewer directly and right click on the system logs as well as the application logs and save them as .evtx file as shown below and upload here
