Hi -
I need help with a BSOD and subsequent boot failure. Windows Startup Repair can't fix the computer automatically and I'm at a loss.
The problem occurred after I updated to the latest version of Itunes a few days ago.
Sorry forum - This post doesn't follow the BSOD posting instructions. Right now, I can't even boot into safe mode, so I don't know how to run the utilities.
Here is what I got from Startup Repair:

Details about the computer:
Acer Aspire AS1830T-3730 laptop
Core i3 - 1.2GHz
4GB DDR3 SD RAM
WD Caviar Black 750GB
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - (retail re-installed)
I will need a little more information. Does the computer automatically start Startup Repair, or do you get there through the advanced boot menu? Also, do you have a Windows 7 DVD or Windows 7 Repair CD/DVD?

I get the option of running Startup Repair or starting normally when the computer starts.
When in SR, it tells me it can't fix automatically.
I have the Win 7 Disk. Unfortunately the Win 7 Repair Disk I had made fails to boot.
Good.
1. Click Repair your computer
2. Select your region
3. Login with your administrative account
4. Click Command Prompt
5. Type sfc /scannow (you may have to run this three times to resolve all issues)
6. Post back your results

I can't seem to run sfc. I get a message saying that there is a system repair pending and that the system needs to restart. Tried this a few times this and that way but always ended up getting the same message that it can't run sfc because of the pending system repair.

I tried this but it didn't solve the issue. At the end when I restart, I still get a BSOD during boot.
Then the system restarts and I'm back where I was before...
How many times have you run startup repair? You may need to run it three times to fix any issues. It essentially does the same task as sfc /scannow as well as a few others.

The other thing to try is open the command prompt through the Repair your computer feature and find your windows drive.
You want to find the drive with Program Files, Users, and Windows on it.
Type C:
Type dir
Type D:
Type dir
Type E:
Type dir
etc. until you see the above three folders.
Once you find the drive (I'll assume it is C: or D: ) run chkdsk /r c: or chkdsk /r d:

I've tried a few times in a row. Each time I get the same message. Startup Repair can't fix the problem automatically.
Then it gives me the option to go to advanced, shut down, or restart.
As I said, I did this loop a few times, but can't seem to break out of it.
chkdsk finds 5 bad sectors but can't write them to the log file because I had to unmount my c: drive in order to run chkdsk in the first place. I don't know if that makes a difference, but trying to boot after the chkdsk was done still resulted in the BSOD.
tried the last good known config yesterday already - no luck.
