Long time viewer first time poster here.

Got an HP G60 Laptop with an Intel Dual Core Processor and 4 GB Ram and Have been getting a BSOD more and more often. Somewhat computer literate but by now means a guru. Have uploaded the most recent dump files and other system info that may be helpful, let me know if anything further may be helpful. Thanks for any Help.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
I was somewhat sort of confused as what to do here, apologies on my part. I cannot get the system to run the system health report in 'normal mode' because a BSOD will occur before I get the chance. IDK if it is possible to run this in safe mode, I cannot find the option under control pannel, all I can get into is the Resource Monitor, but no system health report. Also the Windows 7 is a fresh re-install from DVD, from roughly 6 months ago, after a HDD reformat.

The contents of the jcgriff2 utility should be included with this post. I thought I had it in my last post but it was the wrong folder. Let me know if I did anything else wrong. Thanks

Would you recommend AVG as an ANTIVIRUS or are there other 'free' software that is more reliable??? Does Microsoft Security Essentials have an antivirus with it. Thanks for your help, working through the stuff suggested and hoping for the best.

I recommend only MSE; I install only MSE: I use only MSE (microsoft security essentials).
I never get malware.

Paul Thurott and some other well-known names in the computer journalistic area use only MSE.

Uninstalled AVG, The optimization program, SB S&D and Installed MSE, MALWB, SASW and ran into another BSOD a couple of times. This time it did not actually got to a blue screen, but the screen went black and the computer restarted. There was a minidump so I ran the utility and uploaded the results. Thanks Again

That product is a known source of problems. Please uninstall.

Now that you have MSE, then you need NOTHING more.

That program could very well be a contributor to the latest problem.

Hey Karl,

SuperAntiSpyware is actually a pretty good program. I have seen some testimony that the realtime version of it even stops fakerean/fakehdd malicious items. I can't backup those claims, but I use the standalone scanning free version of SuperAntiSpyware on my own systems. Only problem I've ever had with it were some false positives, which the developers cleaned up within 24 hours of me notifying them about them.

It is part of the http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627 that was recommended by panais.

and I've seen that program be responsible for problems.

The program is completely unnecessary if one has MSE.

The program is another one that interferes with and slows down a machine. Remember, every process that thinks it is necessary to jump in the water only muddies the water and creates turbulence.

As you can see, I'm not a fan of unnecessary and unneeded programs.

Strange that I've never had malware and I've never had a BSOD. I had to download Mark's NotMyFault in order to be able to produce a crash on my system.

skip112489,

You now have two opinions about SAS, but you should form your own opinion after taking both into consideration. You may even want to read up on it through a Google search and seeing what other people have to say on both sides before you make a decision.

I have a lot of respect for Karl, and I definitely understand his point overall. I am not saying he is right and I am wrong about SAS, nor am I saying that I am right and he is wrong about SAS. I think whichever path you take will serve you well in the long run. :)

And Karl, I also have never had a BSOD with my current setup. I have had a few with Norton, VIPRE, BitDefender, avast!, etc. installed. MSE definitely causes the least issues for antivirus/security software. I completely agree with you on that.

I can see the differing views on the program and the pros and cons each way. I would be most swayed by what was output in the minidump and whether that included this program or if it was another program and/or driver. Not to sure how to go about that... Thanks Again

Ah, my apologies. I missed that you had a new set to look at. I am analyzing now...

The most recent crash was DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.

Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.

  1. Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click Uninstall a program
  5. For onboard graphics:
    1. Click Start Menu
    2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
    3. Click Manage
    4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
    5. Expand Display adapters
    6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
      • Right click the adapter
      • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
      • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
    Alternatively:
    1. Login as an adminstrative user
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Hardware and Sound
    5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
    6. Expand Display adapters
  6. Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards
  7. Install the driver you selected for the display cards once Windows starts

Remember to try multiple versions of the graphics drivers, download them fresh, and install the freshly downloaded drivers.

Looks good. Let us know how things go with the driver swapping for the Intel display drivers.
