BSOD after pc wakes from sleep mode, now w/a "clunking" noise from HDD

I have 2 160GB hdd's set up in RAID0, and I can't tell which one is making the noise. It has been doing this for the last week or so after resuming from sleep mode. It will "clunk" about 4-6 times, then pause, then clunk a few more times, then pause, etc. Recently, however, the noise has been accompanied by a BSOD. The computer restarts fine after the BSOD (so far), and I've turned off the sleep mode under energy management. (Will this hurt my electricity bill very much?)

Anyway, I have no idea if this means my hard drive is going to fail, and if so, how much time it has left. I've backed up everything to my external with windows backup. If this temporary fix can last until pre-flood prices, I don't mind waiting until it completely fails. But I'm not a computer guru in any sense, and everything I've read on the forums still leaves me uncertain about what to do next. Is there any more info I can provide to help deduce my problem? Is it possible that the hard drive is fine? What should I do now? If anyone has any advice for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.

""backed up everything to my external with windows backup"" Good idea. :)

You can also copy paste any important file in your external hd.

Clunking noise in hard disk = 90% the hard disk is dying.

Remove the one hard disk and check if you hear the clanking, then do the same with the other.
We want to find the damaged hard disk.

You can run also the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html
A) Check the Automatically fix file system errors box. (See screenshot below step
B) Check the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors box.

Have in mind that,Disk Check attempt to Fix Errors and Recover Bad Sectors.
It doesnt repair damaged\dying hardware.

Thank you, repped :)

I ran the dskchk on startup, didn't get to see the results, but it's still making the clunking noise. I guess that means my hard drive is doomed? Any idea how long it has left, or is it anyone's guess?
