My computer is a Windows 7 64bit Full Retail version.

I can't tell the age of the hardware but it's all not older than a year I would say. My OS install is about 5 months old.

System Info:
CPU - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
RAM - 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 @ 666mhz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard - ASUS M4N75TD (AM3)
GPU - 1024MB GeForce GTX 460 (PNY)
Harddrives - 2x Hitachi Sata drives, One 250gb other 1TB

I was playing Minecraft for a bit and then it went to a BSOD. I have the attached files in the zip below. I also notice other games like Grand Theft Auto 4 crashing at random, no BSOD on that though.

If you are overclocking anything, please stop.
  1. See http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html for details.
  2. Caused by a driver, possibly Saffire audio, see Audio Interface, Mic Preamplifier, Small-format Consoles, Channel Strips, EQ & Compressor from Focusrite to find drivers for your product and update them. If you need help, let us know.
  3. Possible causes are Memory problems... Corrupted hard disk system files... Corrupted System Files... Lack of Windows updates... Antivirus Software...
Start with the following steps.

  • To update the Saffire audio drivers, use the following steps

You may use the following sites as references for finding drivers. We recommend finding the manufacturer of the driver and downloading drivers directly from the manufacturer or software developer. If you have trouble finding a driver or driver manufacturer, let us know and we will do our best to assist you. If you need help, please provide the device name, manufacturer, and the driver .sys file that you are looking for.
    1. Driver Reference is a good site to find the driver .sys files, their descriptions, and the site most likely to contain an update.
    2. Driver Search Methods provides driver manufacturers and links to their homepages.
    3. Audio Interface, Mic Preamplifier, Small-format Consoles, Channel Strips, EQ & Compressor from Focusrite
There are a few methods for updating drivers.
    1. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html
    2. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/99402-driver-install-add-hardware-wizard.html
    3. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/97061-driver-install-device-manager.html

To fully re-install a driver, use the following steps.
    1. Click Start Menu
    2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
    3. Click Manage
    4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
    5. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
    6. Right click the device
    7. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    8. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
    9. Restart your computer
    10. Install the latest driver for the device once Windows starts.

    Alternatively:
    1. Login as an adminstrative user.
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Hardware and Sound
    5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
    6. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
    7. Right click the device
    8. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    9. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
    10. Restart your computer
    11. Install the latest driver for the device once Windows starts.
  • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).
  • Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96938-check-disk-chkdsk-read-event-viewer-log.html
  • Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after the third run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.
Thanks to Dave76 for help understanding possible causes.

That is actually the hardware on your computer that you uploaded. I asked for that so I can check the compatibility of your devices. To check the temps, run HWINFO with sensor-only checked and post your temps during idle and during the tests I linked to.

Mushkin 991782 (996782) DDR3-1600 2x2GB is not listed as being compatible in the memory list provided by your manufacturer. That does not necessarily mean it is not compatible, just that it was not tested by ASUS.

You could try reducing the frequency to the next lowest and see if it provides more stability. Otherwise, contact Mushkin and ask if the RAM you have is supposed to be compatible with your board/CPU.

Weird because I've had that for maybe over a year now with no problems. The HWiNFO64 wont read my CPU temps for some reason.

Both Hard drives run at about 40C.
Graphics Card runs at about 35C on Idle and when running tests it's at about 71C after just a minute.
Motherboard is at about 54C Idle.

If you had the Crucial running with the Mushkin, that may have been part of your instability issues. I'm also a little concerned by the CPU temperature if that is at idle. AMD processors usually like to run in the 40s when being stressed. The max temp for that unit is 62-67 Celsius.

I have one exhaust fan running in the back and two on the side pulling air in. Would it be a good idea to have the top fan exhaust?

It would help a little, but most of the time, CPU heating problems are due to the heatsink on the CPU. You may want to pull the heatsink and fan off and reapply the thermal paste (I know that is a bit of a hassle as the fans are easier to put on than remove). See post #78 for how to apply the paste. Give gregrocker props for finding those two awesome videos. Careful as the CPU may still be hot.

Also, follow good ESD practices: Keep grounded, and after shutting down and turning off your computer, remove the power cord from the wall and hold down the power button for 30 seconds to complete the circuit and let any residual power in the computer drain.

Right, alright well thanks for the help. I don't have any paste so I'll have to buy some, hopefully that'll get the computer a bit more stable.

Alright I added the fan and it seems to be working so far. I'm still going to get the paste but now I have another kind of issue. It seems that all my games lock up but my computer doesn't I can ctrl+alt+del out and it'll take a minute for the game to crash after I open task manager but they crash very frequently.

Is it possibly because of the over heating CPU? I don't get a blue screen just the games them selves lock up.

Hard to say what is causing that behavior. Are you monitoring the temperature during play to see what it gets to before it crashes?

Alright I had kind of a similar experience again. This time the game froze but after waiting a while it responded. A while being like 5-6 minutes. I was playing minecraft. My CPU got up to 47C and my GPU at 64C. Not sure what Nvidia MCP is but that's at 60C. I feel it might not be related to overheating but I'm not sure.
