I'm really hoping someone can help me with this issue. The laptop is actually my girlfriends, it is a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934. The computer itself is attached to an external Samsung monitor as it is used at her desk much like a desktop. It originally came with Windows Vista but last October she purchased the digital copy of Windows 8 so it has been running on that OS just fine. However, one of her classes this semester requires that she has Windows 7 installed. (It is an IT class.)

Luckily for her, I had an unused license that I gladly let her have and we formatted the drive and installed it like you normally would. Something weird did occur during the installation process when it is was trying to get to the blue colored "installing now" screen. It blue-screened and restarted. It did this twice very fast so I was unable to catch it. I nearly gave up on trying to install it and went to my room to seek assistance when my girlfriend called out from the living room for me to hurry before it crashes. I run in and its installing. Everything seems normal and functional.

We begin the updating process and after getting only the IMPORTANT updates, of which there were around 105, the computer asked to be restarted. She restarted it. Upon trying to boot back into Windows it flashed with a bizarre error screen and then demands for Start up Repair to be run. This was allowed to run at which point it found nothing bizarre. I am now unable to make it past this point as the same screen always occurs. I took a few shots of the various feedback given from the machine - I would give more, but I can't get into Windows 7. This upsets me because she needs it in order to pursue her career. Any help will be appreciated beyond measures.

Attached are the screens I took with my phone:

Negative. After selecting F8 and choosing Safe Boot it only leads to the blue screen I captured while trying to load.

Have you tried re-installing Windows 7?

Yes, multiple times. It never makes it back to the setup area. It blue screens and restarts automatically. However, this time it's giving me a new error code I noticed. Picture attached:

It starts to show the spinning Windows logo like it is going to boot up but then the screen flashes the first bluescreen and the system auto restarts. :(

This problem just continues to perplex me. Getting to the startup recovery area I tried running the command given into the cmd prompt, it resulted in the first picture below "the one telling me that a repair is already in progress and to restart". After restarting and trying this three times it seems to be in an endless loop. Eventually I click the first startup repair option on the menu and it scans the system for errors. This results in the next pictures showing what tests failed. After restarting from all of this I get the final but NEW blue screen.

Hi,

Get back to the command prompt using your DVD and enter the following commands.
(note the space between bootrec.exe and /FixMbr)

bootrec.exe /FixMbr

:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20864-mbr-restore-windows-7-master-boot-record.html

If successful you should see a message "The operation completed successfully"

While the above command does fix the MBR, and sometimes that is enough, there still might be an error with the system partition's boot sector and Boot Configuration Data (BCD). This might occur if you have tried to install another operating system alongside Windows 7, such as Windows XP. To write a new boot sector, try the following command:

bootrec.exe /FixBoot

If you are still faced with your Windows 7 installation not being detected during start up, or if you wish to include more than one operating system choice to your system's boot list, you can try the following command to rebuild your BCD:

bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

The above command will scan all your disks for other operating systems compatible with Windows 7 and allow you to add them to your system's boot list. If this fails, you may need to backup the old BCD folder* and create a new one in its place, follow this tutorial:

:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/163216-bootrec-exe-tool-how-use-windows-recovery-environment.html

Also please see this guide if the above does not correct your boot issues.

Cheers

Dave
