My Acer Aspire 7551 series laptop fell off of the bed, about 2 feet total. it froze then when i restarted it i got a blank black screen with a blinking cursor. tried starting into safe mode to no avail, used my windows 7 retail disk to try to repair it and its not seeing my install of windows, though BIOS sees my HDD. now when i start without the disk i get that its not able to communicate with boot\bcd status 0xc00000e9. i can't get the zip files because i can't access the computer, sorry.

system is a retail acer aspire 7551 series laptop
3 GB ram
360GB HDD
system 1 year old
OS retail version 8 months old

any help fixing this problem is greatly appreciated.

hi nergal, and welcome to sevenforums,

we feel your pain!

possibly the fall jarred your hdd, and it's not quite connected properly.

do you know how to access the hdd? there should be a panel on the underside of the machine which is easily unscrewable - (look for a symbol which looks like a cylinder).

unscrewing the panel should reveal the hdd - pull the drive out, and push it back in again to re-establish the connection.

screw panel back on, cross your fingers, pray to your favourite deity and reboot.

good luck!

...or you may need to buy a replacement 2.5" drive.

i reconnected it already, its still not working. and i REALLY hope i dont have to get a new HDD, i don't have a job currently and have no way of getting a new one unfortunately, plus all my passwords are saved on the web browser on it and i don't remember some of them, which sucks. i was thinking of reformatting the HDD and seeing if that works but again i run into the password issue, and i don't know if i remember the info to reset them either.... sometimes i hate computers.

You could try re-seating the memory too, it's worth a free hit anyway, just make sure you discharge yourself.
