I have a BSOD error STOP: 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF88004C2F013, 0xFFFFF880033FD2A8, 0xFFFFF880033FCB00) Original Vista Business, Installed Windows 7 Pro 64. November 2011. I cannot get windows to load, I checked for memory errors, hard drive errors through CMP. nothing works. I tried all safe mode categories, launch startup Repair about 20x. I have windows in D:. (the disk error shows 1 root causes). I tried system restore, and i get: The instruction at 0xfb8e584d referenced memory at 0x00000008. The memory could not be read.

The only thing I can think of is that the system recovery is running from C: instead of D:. is there a way to change that through CMP? Please Help. I have my kids baby pics and I dont want to loose them. My wife is going to kill me if I do.

Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

Note that you can run Startup Repair forever and it won't work if the correct Win7 or System Reserved partition are not first marked Active. And it may not repair unless disinfected first if required.

Your files are almost always retrieveable via a rescue disk so stop worrying unless you somehow scrambled the partition by a resizing failure, deleted it or have a HD failure.

You can see a picture of your disk partitions now using the Partition Wizard CD in the tutorial, and if you post back a camera snap of it's drive map we may spot the problem straight away.

I tried loading the antivirus offline and I was able to erase a virus. I reboot the system but I continue to get the same error message. [/ATTACH]

Continue working through each Troubleshooting step in the tutorial. If you'll report back the results of each we may have others.

Test your hardware as given in the note at beginning of tutorial.

Your system may not be fully clean yet. Run Defender offline again until you can get into Safe Mode with Networking to run Malwarebytes. Report back.

I cannot get anywhere. I run defender many times and did not find anything. i run safemode and keep getting the same error. I run Trinity and found 12 corrupted files. after that i run trinity couple times and tried safemode but did not get anywhere. Any more suggestions?

Please confirm each of the Troubleshooting steps in tutorial as you complete them.

Have you run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times after confirming the Active partition?

Then did you run System Restore working backward?

Are you using Win7 DVD or Repair CD, from bootable DVD/CD or USB flash?

You may have cleaned up Win7, although I'd confirm it with Bitdefender CD myself. But until you boot in with DVD or Repair CD to run all of the Repairs it often will not start.

I have tried Startup Repair 3 times or more. I followed the troubleshooting steps using Partition wizard. Startup Repair asked me 2 times to system restore and I tried. I keep getting this message. "The instruction at 0xfc1b584d referenced memory at 0x00000008. The memory could not be read" I am using a Windows 7 dvd from a external dvd drive. I have a hp elitebook 2730p

If this is the HP in your specs then use the Product Key on COA sticker to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .

If it's retail Win7 you've installed then the Product key should be on the disk packaging or in an email if you purchased a download, which can also sometimes be tracked by customer service from seller. Otherwise you'd have to audit it from the running OS using Belarc Advisor.

To start Win7 I'd burn the DVD or write to flash stick, boot to try the repairs in tutorial, rescue files if necessary.

Thank you Gregroker! I forgot to post. I clean the computer and back up drive before installing windows 7 again.
