Solved BSOD always around start up Error BCCode: d1

I recently built a new PC and installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on it. At first I was getting some blue screens but after installing the necessary Windows updates and drivers for my hardware the issue seemed to go away. Then about a week into my PC I've noticed it would blue screen very close to after the PC starts up and Windows is finished loading. It's very sporadic and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. I don't know if this is hardware issue or a driver issue but this is the error I just got:

These are my specs (I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit that is a FULL RETAIL version, not OEM):

I placed the order from CyberpowerPC INC on Black Friday of last year (November 25, 2011) and it arrived on December 20th, 2011. So I've owned the actual PC for less than a month.

Updating drivers and Windows is very important because of the issues with the Sandy Bridge CPU's.

Please ensure that you ONLY use Win7 compatible drivers with this device as other drivers can (and will) cause BSOD's. Here's my rant about these devices:

I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

MSINFO32 shows one memory dump (from 21 Dec 2011) that blames your wireless USB adapter's drivers. Please follow the advice above for updating the driver. DO NOT use the device if you can't get Win7 drivers.

Daemon Tools is a known cause of BSOD's in some Win7 systems. Please uninstall the program and then use this free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from the system: DuplexSecure - FAQ - Remove 64 bit sptd.sys

This is most likely a hardware problem, but can be caused by compatibility issues (older Netgear drivers), low-level driver problems (like Daemon Tools), or even malware.

I'll try that. I just went and installed some more Windows Updates. (Why Windows didn't notify me that there were any new ones in the first place is beyond me).

Just a few notes. I've used Daemon tools on my other Windows 7 laptop and it's never Blue Screened. But I removed it just in case. Also thinking back on it now that was perhaps the first thing I should have done is remove the drivers for the other USB adapter when I got a new one to replace it. Though it's strange to me since both of the adapters I've used have on the packaging and on their website (it's a Netgear N600) that it is Windows 7 compatible. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled it from the disk and all the necessary updates just in case.

Hopefully it'll stop Blue Screening altogether.

Actually on second thought I do have one more concern. I decided to download that DriverScanner and give it a run. It says I have several device drivers out of date. Some of them are just USB hubs and my iPod USB connector which I'm not worried about. But it does mention several things such as the pci standard pci-to-pci bridge and pci standard host cpu bridge. I want to update them all but it seems I have to BUY the software in order to do so. I tried googling these things but my results have turned up short. How do I do this?

The manufacturer's will claim compatibility - but I don't know what criteria that they use, or how much testing that they do. We have repeatedly seen here (and on other forums) that older drivers and wireless USB devices will cause BSOD's.

The same for the Daemon Tools. It'll work for a while, and then something will go awry and your system will start spitting out BSOD's. Search the page at this link for "Daemon Tools". There's 2 sections (one starts with "a", the other starts with "sp") - and we found all of those due to Blue Screens on different people's systems. Here's the link: Driver Reference

No need to buy the software.
Also, it's 2 of the reasons that I don't like this software:
- it's confusing to figure out just where you can get the PCI or USB stuff from (it's the chipset drivers)
- they're using this confusing nomenclature to hold you up for money.

Go to the support website of the manufacturer of your motherboard and download the chipset drivers. That will update your drivers to the latest version available. Not only will it update the PCI stuff, but it'll also get some of the USB stuff also.
