I recently built a new system, and everything works fine until I play FSX of do some video editing. I then get a BSOD usually with the "caused by driver HAL.DLL" or "caused by driver ntoskrnl.exe+76e80" This is driving me insane as all my pc bits are new. Can anyone please help. Hopefully I have attached the dump file.
Many thanks in advance.

It is something to do with Microsoft® Flight Simulator X prima facie. May be it is the source of the issue itself. But it is always tough to say about a stop 0x124.

Do the basic and fundamental troubleshooting of stop 0x124 as guided in http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...top-0x124-what-means-what-try.html#post354696 .... if it finds anything as problematic, let us knoe for the required action. Otherwise contract with Microsoft about Flight Simulator X, ask them for a fix that may be applicable in your system.

Hi Arc

thank you for replying. I have just realised that I get the BSOD when doing two things. 1) Flying a plane in FSX and 2) When converting video files. It crashes just about every time I try to convert a video file.
Many thanks
Dave

Go through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try ... it will guide you to all the necessary steps that isneeded to troubleshoot the issue.

First of all, make it sure that the computer is not overclocked. As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.
Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

Stress test the CPU. It saves the result as a .txt file in the prime95's folder. Upload the file for us.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Let us see upto this point. In nothing came up, we will check the next set of things.
