BSOD and random system lockups - GPU related?

Hello all, I have been experiencing random system freezes and BSOD recently. I haven't had any hardware changes or even installed any new programs recently, so I'm not sure what is happening.

I am assuming, but could be wrong, that they are video card related. Here is why: I now constantly have issues where my screen flickers and has green dots for several seconds, and then resets with a warning that "your amd display adapter has crashed and has recovered" This type of issues tends to happen very frequently when just browsing on the internet using chrome, but does happen occasionally when gaming and other system taxing stuff. If just browsing, I tend to get this crash and recover. If I am downloading a file, I usually get a system freeze.

I have attached my most recent dump file, however my system freezes and requires a hard reset more often then getting BSOD so I don't know how recent the dump info is.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Hi TarBash45.

Uninstall Asus Charger Plus. It is the main issue here.

Also, Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one; for a safety reason.

Let us know the results.
