BSOD and spontaneous restarts (No known recurring event found)

Hello all,

I will provide as many details as I can since the thread title is a bit ambiguous. I'm having a problem with my parents computer that I can't seem to pin down. Attached is the latest dump file from a BSOD. However, the machine will also spontaneously restart on its own, most often occurring during it's normal routine of web browsing, but also when completely idle. I can't find any details in the Windows event logs, other than "The computer shut down unexpectedly."

Here are the details for this machine.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Gateway GT5678
Unknown board manufacturer
Intel Core 2 Q6600
ATI Radeon HD 2400XT onboard
Avira Anti-virus
Chrome and Firefox web browsers

If there is anything else I can provide I will do so as soon as possible, any and all help is appreciated, as I am running out of luck with this one. I've took high school classes in troubleshooting, but that was 10 years ago, and I also have no way of analyzing dump files like you miracle workers can. Thanks for the help.

Can you first run some hardware tests as the dump files seems corrupt, the others date back last year so they're disregarded.
I think our first step is to rule out whether it's software or hardware.


Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

   Warning

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Memtest86 will test your RAM

   Information

Run Memtest86 for at least 8 passes so we get enough information to confirm that your RAM isn't failing

Run a Disk Check to scan for errors

   Note

Afterwards go into an Elevated Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and type in sfc /scannow
If it finds errors reboot and run the scan two more times

Run SeaTools to see if your HDD or SSD is failing

Post back the results.
