Hey,

I am currently getting two problems which seem to be related.

the 1st issue is that all my USB ports stop working after my laptop is on for awhile which means i have to reboot to get them to work again. Which leads to my second problem, after I try to shutdown/restart my laptop, it hangs on the shutdown screen for about 15-20 min which then leads to a BSOD with a DRIVER-POWER-STATE-FAILURE message. This problem can occur at any time (when i'm browsing the net, playing games or when i am not using my laptop but it is on.)

System specs:

OS: Win 7 Home premium 64 bit original install OEM

CPU: Intel Core i7 -740qm 1.73GHz

Graphics: NVidia GeForce GTX 460M

Ram: 8gb

I bought this laptop at the beginning of the year.

other notes:
-This problem has been going on for a few months
-After this issue occurs, when i turn my laptop back on, windows reinstall drivers for all devices attached by USB.
- I have tried numerous system restores, reinstalling or updating some drivers.

Thanks.

No DMP files included in upload try this method.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

I tried doing everything you posted, but the minidump folder was still empty after i rebooted.

How large is your page file?

Is it located on a different HD?

After tinkering with some of the driver's i hopefully managed to fix my problem (My USB's have not crashes for over 2 days.)

Just one more question, if this problem starts up again, should i start a new thread or keep posting in this one?

Also, cheers for trying to help me :).

It is my pleasure to help

If the problem starts again its better to start a new thread but you can reference this one and put a link on the new thread.
