hi guys,

Here's my latest dump, this time it was system service exception but the one i had this morning was apc index miss match

I've recently installed a powercolor 5770 1gb, but also did a fresh install of windows 7 on the same day so i cant tell if it's the card or not.

athlon II x64 3200+
ga-m59sli-s5 (gigbyte just sent me the latest bios so i'm gonna update that)
powercolor 5770 1gb which is installed on the 8x pci-e as it wont work on the 16x (using driver from install cd)
700w thermaltake psu 30a/22a

this is happening quite rgularly, when surfing the net etc.. the dump i'm posted came from when i was trying to install a bios program.

In looking through your drivers, I see that you have AVG anti virus installed. AVG is known to cause BSOD, on some systems. I suggest that you uninstall it while trouble shooting using the uninstall tool > Info > Tool (32bit) - Tool (64 bit). If you have AVG Identity Protection installed, uninstall it also >Info > Tool[FONT=&quot]. I recommend that you install MSE and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.

There is an exception code fffffc0000005, which suggest potential memory issue. I would recommend to download third party called memtestx86, burn it to CD and let it run for at least 5,6 passes.

wow thanks for the comprehensive reply,

quick update, i have installed the latest bios for my board f9d which was sent to me via gigabyte since the downloaded bios off their site wasn't compat with win7 64x.

Since updating the bios a whole bunch of new drivers automaticly installed upon reboot. (including d-link wireless/raid and a couple others i forget now)
2-3 hours have past now and no BSOD yet, the bsod was happening on a frequency of 1 every 1-3 hours.
So i'll continue using the pc all day/night and if i get a BSOD again i'll paste the dump.

with the JMicron driver i'm not sure which one to pick?

edit: i've just reinstalled the nforce chipset drivers with 15.53

is there somewhere i can go to show u the version/date? checking device manager it tells me they are from 2009 on the network adapter and the ata controllers

They probably are from 2009, we will see what happens if it BSODs again.

As for the RAID drivers, given that you have not got a 0x24 (hard drive) BSOD yet I would just ignore them for now.

More important is for you to run a memory test given the mention of memory corruption in your dumps.

Memtest - Instructions:

Download the ISO (or the .exe for USB drives) from here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Then (if you have chosen the ISO) burn the ISO using IsoRecorder: ISO Recorder v3

Boot from the CD/USB and run the test (at least 7 passes per test) with only one stick of RAM in place at a time.

It is a time consuming process but it is the only way to be sure it isn't a RAM fault.

For your final test, run the test with all the RAM in place.

i tried memtest86 but the installer wont work with win7 x64 and i dont have any spare floppies lying around..
i'm gonna go ahead and try this one in the mean time.

You can use the exe with an USB drive instead of a floppy.

make sure you have followed the instruction about memory diagnostic that Reventon and I gave you earlier. You gotta burn it to CD using Iso recorder, then boot it when you start up computer. It is not the program that run in window mode.
Memory Diagnostic tool is not as effective as Memtestx86 in case you have problem with the memory. If you truly want to test your ram, use memtestx86.
It's awesome to see that no BSODs yet, may be updating drivers solved the issue. Keep us up to date please

yep after looking through the memtest site a bit more i found the iso, i'll burn it to cd and run it over night.

If i had to guess what has stopped the bsod i'd honestly say it was updating the bios.

there are known issues with the ati 5770 not working on older 590 series chipsets due to a north/south bridge incompad. the latest bios update is a beta e-mailed to me from gigabyte but others have reported it to work on the m59sli board.

currently i have the 5770 installed on the 8x slot as it wouldn't go to POST with it in the 16x slot, but since i updated the bios today i'll install it into the 16x slot tommorow after the memtest is complete and see if it boots up.

i'll be really happy if the bsod has been fixed as i do my studies online and the fear of it bsod'ing mid way through the tests is always in the back of my mind

well i haven't done the memtest or swapped the card yet, been really busy but i have left the pc on for 2 days straight now and not a single BSOD! considering it was happening on a frequency of once every 1-2 hours i'd say the bsod has been fixed
