BSOD - Appears to be related to Utorrent/extended use

Hi guys,

hopefully this is an easily solved issue, I have a PC serving as a HTPC streaming to all Smart TV's/Apple TV's/Kindles etc via Plex. All runs smoothly and the system can remain on for extended periods with no issues. I've recently been finding the server down and upon inspection this has been caused by Blue screens causing the system to restart and need logged back in. At first I believed it to be sporadic but now after several weeks with the issue I've noticed it only appears to happen when Utorrent is active, usually downloading some of my new content. It appears to run fine for a period before the error occurs, so I'm not sure if it could be related to the RAM, or read/writing of files to hard drive. I have both a USB2.0 1TB external Seagate and a newer USB3.0 3TB Toshiba external hard drive but the issue occurs regardless of where the files are written to, so I believe it to be system based. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dump file attached, if you need anything else let me know.

Thanks,

Paul

You are having network related crashes.
Before changing any drivers I always recommend creating a restore point before, follow these instructions.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

Your Realtek network driver is causing issues.
Please update it here. (Make sure you install the correct version)

Ok so I've updated the drivers and rebooted, left on for a while now with no apparent problems, will leave overnight with Utorrent running and see if the problem is resolved. Thanks Doc!

You are getting the same bugchecks with the same driver at fault.
I can suggest going onto the start menu then typing in the following.
  1. Power options
  2. Select "Change plan settings"
  3. Change "Advanced power settings"
  4. Click "Wireless adapter settings"
  5. Then "power saving mode"
  6. finally choose "Maximum performance"

Hi there,

did as you said, when I got there the settings were already as specified, it looks like I've been running with the setting at Maximum performance already. Any other ideas?

Can you enable Driver Verifier by following these instructions but when you select the settings check Force IRQL Checking only.

Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier -Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning

Before enabling DV, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point Manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

  • If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
  • If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.
