BSOD, appears to be Windows Update related.

My PC is having random BSOD's, usually occuring when booting. At the moment I can only access safe mode. It started a few days ago after running some windows updates. I have since reinstalled windows and after doing the updates I am experiencing it again. My first guess was the hard drive was going bad but after running Seatools I have confirmed the HDD is okay. Thanks for your help.

If you are fairly certain an update is causing the issue, I would reinstall Windows and install updates one at a time (download the standalone SP 1 installer and start with that) until you find the one that's causing issues. Also, make sure your motherboard firmware is current, and that you have downloaded and installed the most current drivers for all of your hardware from the various manufacturers.

I checked the MB, Video, and Chipset drivers to make sure they were up to date. My Windows disc does include SP1 and Im sure after a fresh installation it does not BSOD. There are over 80 updates and I was hoping not to have to check each one, especially since the BSOD is not usually instant. I was hoping for some insight from the minidump.

Are you installing recommended driver updates from Microsoft, or are you just installing hotfixes and security updates? I ask because one of the crashes indicates a problem loading netr61.sys, which is a Linksys wireless driver component. If Windows updated the driver, it could be the cause of the BSOD.

I would visit Linksys and look for the most recent driver for your wireless hardware.

I did recall seeing the netr61.sys on the BSOD screen. I was installing security updates and drivers. Ill check into that Linksys driver but I dont have any linksys hardware, my wirelss lan is an Edimax. I can uninstall the update from safe mode or do a system restore if that doesnt work. Thanks for your help!

The driver is for Ralink RT61 Turbo Wireless Lan Card, this is a generic card rebranded and sold under many names so could well be your Edimax.
