Hello,

Thank you in advance for all help; it is much appreciated. I like to fall asleep to a movie, so I play a video on VLC. When the video has finished, Sleep# puts the computer to sleep. The next morning, I woke the computer from sleep mode to see the BSOD.

I have tried updating drivers and windows, checking for hard disk errors, and checking for memory problems. Attached is the zip file as requested in thread "BSOD - Posting Instructions"

Any other info needed won't be a problem.

Thank you

Welcome to SevenForums,

Avast! antivirus often contributes in BSOD-s, please uninstall and replace with Microsoft security essentials. (To test)

Recommended antivirus program for Windows 7 based on stability compared to others:-
:warn: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Please uninstall Spybot S&D, it;s sometimes known to corrupt and slow down the system.
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy Public:Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy
Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:

Free up the start-up, nothing except the antivirus is usually needed.

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

Daemon Tools:

Please uninstall DAEMON Tools. It uses a driver called sptd.sys which is known to cause BSODs in Windows 7. Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Reboot the system. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.

As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or Magic ISO

Let us know the results.

Thank you for the help.
I have completed the list of solutions.
I will update progress as they come to light. I do not anticipate posting progress anytime soon, as BSODs occur infrequently - approximately once a month - and state other possible causes. This was the only BSOD that I was able to catch, without being caught off guard and/or depressed. Depression coming from the fact that this is a "brand new" computer and it is already falling apart.
Thank you for your help once again. It is much appreciated.

I recently received some inadequate -- no, not inadequate, half-hearted would be more appropriate -- tech support, from NCIX, for a warning message that occurred at start up; unrelated to the thread . In my opinion it was a cosmetic problem. I got annoyed with clicking "OK", so I sought help --why not utilize the warranty while I have it.

The following link is essentially the error message and the appropriate solution.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- Win 7 - Asus Setup Message Error

The NCIX tech support agent stated I should reformat my computer, so I did. I reformatted on 12-12-26. The problem came back so I went and found my own solution -- the one above.

Everything appeared to be normal and your helpful solution appeared to resolve the issue. I cannot really follow up with a update due to the reformat. I really appreciated your help, thank you again; good help is hard to come by, especially from individuals who aren't disinterested.
