Recently obtained a new Acer Aspire, and have been having problems. BSOD's so often I have a chunk of my own hair in my hand. It's always Bad_Pool_Caller. I thought it might be something I installed, or an update I did.....so I restored to factory condition. Upon my first boot after the restore.... BAM another bad_pool_caller bsod. I'll attach the dmp file. If you would be so kind to help, I'd truly appreciate it, thank you!

These were caused by two things. First, your Avast, and second your IAStorDataMgr (storage controller driver software)

I would remove Avast and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials

http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

AND re-install your iastor.sys drivers with the newest available. I would only install the driver and not the added features.

I did what you said, and VOILA! No blue screens since then. What I don't understand is why would they distribute a product that would have this problem out of the box =[. Anyways, I truly appreciate the help, you are a life saver!

My pleasure, and they cant possibly test every configuration. While not a bad product, on some systems it just cant be used.

If after a day or so you are still crash free, click the red triangle and ask that the thread be closed.

Good luck
