Hi, I'm really sorry but I don't know how to get the BSOD dump - I'm quite a computer novice. My laptop's relatively new (2 months) and I've had BSOD problems since I got it. They were always BCCode 7f before, and it was recommended I got rid of ZoneAlarm which seemed to help. But then today I got this new BSOD with a new BCCode 1a. (I've noticed some problems when playing music and the sound crackles for a second - may it could be something to do with this?) Thank you very much for any help you can give

Your actual dump file is not included in the upload. Can you zip it and upload to us? Without the actual dump it is difficult to analyze the crash. However, I can make a few recommendation for troubleshooting.

I recommend that you uninstall AdAware and uninstall Spybot. Third party anti-malware programs can cause conflicts and corruption. To replace these two programs, download and install Malwarebytes (free) and use it as an on demand scanner. MBAM runs well with Win 7 and MSE.

Uninstall Norton/Symantec using this removal tool: Tool. Norton is known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.

Oh sorry! I hope this is better. It is the folder that was created when I did the dump - haven't changed it at all. Thank you very much!

Sorry still no dmp try this method

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

The dump file is still missing. Do a search of your C: drive for ""*.dmp" (without the quotation marks). If you find any .dmp files, copy them to your desktop, zip them and upload them. Do you have a cleaning program running? If so make sure it is set not to delete dump files.

I have added some information to my post above. I am going through the other files you included and I see that you have many outdated drivers loaded on your system and obsolete software running. Outdated drivers can and do cause memory corruption and crashes. I will post these drivers that need updating in about an hour. I have some errands I have to run; but I will be back and finish.

Ok, these are the files that came up when I searched for .dmp - hopefully they're the ones. It would be weird if there were lots of old software on the computer because it's quite new and I havent really been putting any more software on, however, it was a display computer (got it a bit cheaper that way!) and so the store might have put stuff on it. Really very grateful for your help!

Unfortunately, those are text files and not the dumps files. Here are the dumps that we need: C:\Windows\Minidump\102510-25552-01.dmp; C:\Windows\Minidump\102610-25100-01.dmp; 110410-26130-01.dmp; 100110-27003-01.dmp, etc. There are more. See if you can find those files with the extension .dmp; those are the actual dumps and those are what we need. These are listed in $evtx_app_dump.txt file that you uploaded.

These are the outdated drivers I find loaded on your system. Those in red font are really obsolete. What amazes me is the number of RAID drivers. Are you running a RAID array?

For now, concentrate on updating drivers dated 2008 and earlier.
how to find drivers -
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box above. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page:

I've changed the settings to allow for a dump but I still can't see a .dmp file - really dont what's going on I'm afraid. Otherwise, not aware that I'm running RAID but to be quite honest I don't really know what it is - really sorry for my ignorance, very grateful for all your work, will look into updating the drivers. It's strange that there should be stuff from 2008, I have a feeling the store had this computer for quite a while before I got it!

I think probably it was a Vista, or maybe even an XP, computer that they upgraded. If you have a warranty and the store is close by, I suggest you take to them and let a tech get all of the irrelevant stuff off of it. Since this is a notebook computer, I doubt that you are running a RAID array. But some laptops/notebooks/netbooks do use a RAID driver. However, they use a RAID driver - not all of those that you have. You can tell the techs that you are getting and have been getting BSOD's since you got the computer. You can tell them you removed ZA; but that that you are still getting BSOD's with different error codes. Do ask thm about all of those RAID drivers.

You can print the list of obsolete drivers and show them. The "magic" date for third party drivers (non-MS drivers) for Win 7 is July 13, 2009 or later. Any driver dated earlier than July 13, 2009, is not a Win 7 driver. That said, many Vista drivers with dates in 2009 (prior to July 13th) will work fine with Win 7.

If you have a Windows 7 CD, another option is to do a clean install of Win 7 following this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html. This should get rid of any unnecessary junk and drivers. This might be easier than getting rid of or updating those drivers.
