Posting a ? here yesterday regarding MY machine that's failing, the last thing I needed was a problem with my wife's machine...but naturally--
Her new Win7 desktop has recently not wanted to shutdown necessitating a power button off.
The subsequent boot up failed--something about the loader missing, do ctrl alt del which didn't do squat but bring up the Lenovo logo.
I then booted off an Acronis DVD to Windows and shortly ended up with a BSOD.
2 questions:
1. 'If' one of her Acronis images is by partition and not disk would a restore of only the MBR resolve the boot loader problem?
2. I know you all have several hacks that try and force a faster shutdown but is there a way of determining 'what' is causing the shutdown to hang?
