Solved BSOD BugCheckcode 0x000000D1

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and decided to sign up to the forum because I've been having BSOD problems every once in a while but they've started to become more regular. It just happens out of the blue (no pun intended) and I get an illegible blue screen that's completely screwed up, with the text turned into white and coloured stripes going all across it.
I had a look at the eventviewer, and on every occasion I had this problem it came up with Event ID 41, Souce: Kernel-Power and Bugcheckcode 209 (0x000000D1)
I ran BlueScreenView which told me that the Bug Check String is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Some more info:
System manufacturer/make: Sony VAIO CPCEC1M1E
System Age: June 2010
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64
OS installed since: June 2010 (never re-installed)
OEM Version

Is there some way this can be fixed? Thanks very much for having a look and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well the minidump points to atheros,so update all ur atheros and post back with any results.

Hm, I tried to update the driver via the device manager by automatically searching for driver software but I was told by windows that it's decided that the driver software is up to date...

I'm not horribly bad with computers, but what driver version would you suggest and where can I get it?

Thanks, I managed to do that, all I need to do now is figure out how to install the driver from the zip file... I'm sorry, I'm not horrible with computers but all I see is .inf files, .sys files and .cat, neither of which I know what t do with.

I extracted the files from the zipfile into a folder on my desktop andtried going through Device Manager and chose "Browse my computer for driver software". I selected the folder that I extracted the downloaded files into, but again Windows told me that the drivers for my network adapter are up to date.

Which version you have in device manager?

Uninstall the driver,then try to install the new one.

If you cannot to do that,then uninstall the driver,restart and let windows to auto install the same one.

Live it that way and wait for results.

A tip: a good and a helpful idea for you is,go in you laptop manufacture website,there read the specs of your laptop and check and learn how to update,chipset,bios,drivers,everything,that way you will keep your laptop <<fresh>> and 99% off troubles.

Good morning world! I see I am certainly not the only person with BSOD problems...

Ok, I would like to try uninstalling but if I want to install the new driver should there not be some kind of setup file or .exe file within that zipfile I downloaded off of the atheros.cz website? Also, the zipfile I downloaded contains files for both x32 and x64, so do I ditch the x32 ones?

Dont look for setup there is no setup

you can also,

Uninstall the old driver,then try to update with the new one.

Hm, something is going wrong. When I go into device manager I right click on the adapter and go to properties.

Then in the driver tab I click on uninstall (behind which it says to uninstall the driver). I then get a pop-up saying:

Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter
Warning: You are about to uninstall this device from your system

Below this there is a box I can tick with the following text: Delete driver software from this device

If I do not tick the box and click ok, some uninstalling takes place and adapter completely disappears from from the device manager. If I right click on the Network Adapters Settings and select Scan for hardware Changes, it comes back with the old driver installed.

So do I tick the box?

Yes,and after uninstalling restart then try to update with the new driver.
