Solved BSOD BugCheckcode 0x000000D1

Right, did that, restarted, and upon restarting windows started to install new driver software. As soon as I got the message that the hardware was ready for use: BANG, BSOD!

Started windows again normally and checked the device manager and I am now on driver version 2.0.0.74!!!

I tried updating by browsing to the folder on my computer but windows told me my driver was up tp date.
I tried updating by automatically searching for new drivers and windows has just upgraded me to version 2.0.0.75

I seem to have gone backwards rather than forwards :S

The automatic update option is now also telling me that my drivers are up to date...

Uninstall completely the driver,tik the box also,then scan for hardware changes and let it install the driver.

Upload the new bsod folder.

Right, I unistalled version 2.0.0.75 and windows automatically installed 2.0.0.74 again --> BSOD

Then after it restarted I tried to uninstall version 2.0.0.74 but there was no box to tick, so this software cannot be deleted. I clicked ok, it uninstalled, the adapter became invisible and when I clicked "scan hardware changes" the adapter reappeared and windows automatically reinstalled driver version 2.0.0.74 --> BSOD

Uninstall completely the driver,tik the box also,then scan for hardware changes and let it install the driver then try to update with windows update.

Then Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

The Atheros driver crash may have been triggered by something else, probably malware or your Antivirus
Run a scan of Malwarebytes

Remove Avast for troubleshooting purposes

First finish with the updates,then,

Uninstal and clean Avast from your system using the http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Download and install mse Anti-Malware, Virus, Spyware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

Enable windows firewall.

Uninstall speedfan but before you remove it if you had\have any tweaks\changes set everything back to default then uninstall it.


Follow yowanvista good advice and Download,install,update and scan with http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

Also Download,install,update and scan with http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE

Ok, windows updates installed, to no avail, updating again brought me to version 2.0.0.75

Am now getting rid of Avast and continuing as you suggested.

I downloaded and tried to install mse but was told it is a x32 version and I should download the x64 version. I do not, however, see any place on the website where I could find it.

Ok,you can keep mse,malwarebytes and superantispyware,they are free.

Have for a.v. have mse with windows firewall.

And every few days do extra scans with malwarebytes and superantispyware.

Always keep all the above updated.

Also download and scan with this http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe
You dont need to install it is standalone just open it and run it for scan,is good and fast you need just a seconds to complete the scan.

Remember to,

I don't know what speedfan is and when I click on start and type it into the box the search comes up with nothing.

In the mean time, scanning along, so far superantispyware has found one tracking cookie.

Tracking cookies is harmless.


You have anything else to do,do you finish with everything? updates,uninstalls,installs,scans.....?

Superantispyware just finished scanning, 420 tracking cookies, nothing else (I've removed them even if they are harmless, sure they'll be back again soon enough ).

All windows updates have been installed save two, which it is unable to install (one of which is IE9, which I don't care about because I use firefox, the other is some kind of security thing).

*edit* Malwarebytes just finished as well and found no malicious items:

So far, no, but the other ones occurred maybe several times a week to once every two weeks so it will take some time to determine if the problem is fixed I think.

Does it matter that I am on the really old driver version for the network adapter or can I leave it like this? It's bugging me that I cannot get it to update to the most recent version...
