Solved BSOD caused by ntoskrnl.exe+32490b

Hello everyone, I am having BSOD caused by the following : ntoskrnl.exe+32490b .
It happened most of the times while I was surfing the internet with google chrome.

I've attached the SF diagnostic tool zipped files.

You are having a series of stop 0x124, which is supposed to be a hardware related BSOD.

It is seeming to be an old computer. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Let us know the results.

I am not sure if the problem is over-heating , since most of the times it happens like the "first" time i turn it on, a BSOD happened earlier today, then I restarted, played some games, watched movies music, and no BSOD. So there's that. The computer is around 3 to 4 years old, can't remember at the moment. Going to do all the things you asked for by tomorrow, here's the speccy screenshot in the meanwhile:

It may be some other thing too .... we have to have a deeper look. But overheating is the prima facie issue here. And overheating alone can cause a stop 0x124.

We need to rectify it at first. Then, depending on the situation, we will go for further troubleshooting.

Dismantle the computer. Clean the entire inside, but carefully, without breaking anything. Clean all the air vents, fan grills, so that it can blow the hot air out effectively. Also, remove and reapply the thermal paste to the CPU.



It is the first and foremost thing that you need to do. Before doing it, nothing else will be fruitful.

So do it, and let us see another screenshot of spceey summery tab after it is done.

** If it BSODs more before doing it, accept it as obvious.

BTW, you havent told us about the wattage of your PSU.

The PSU is 500 W. I will have to wait until the week end to apply the thermal paste. I also did the CPU and memory test, first for one for around 3hours and second one for 2and a half hours I had no errors in both of them.
In the week-end I will apply the thermal paste and do the GPU test as well.
Had another couple of BSOD and pretty much the same error so I won't post again the report. I'll update you by the end of the week, thanks for your help!

Well, let us know the situation after reapplying the thermal paste. In between, the BSODs are supposed to continue.

If it BSODs even after controlling the heat, we have to take a further look.

Hello again, sorry to post after SO much time. I just want to say I solved my problem. Or at least it appears to be so. I didn't have a BSOD since I did this, and it's been like a month or so.
Basically I found on some forum that people were having similar problems with Avira antivirus, i unistalled it and didn't have any bsod since.

I am not sure this is the solution for everyone, I am not saying this is right or anything, but this totally worked for me. I always used avira and always found myself very happy with it, but this was a deal breaker, probably some weird non-compatibility with something? I am not sure.
Anyhow, I hope that if someone reads this in the future and has the same problem, maybe he can give this a shot.

That is odd, because a stop 0x124 BSOD cannot be caused by avira antivirus or any software.

The WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR bug check has a value of 0x00000124. This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).

dttah, your issue was the high CPU temperature. I have no favor to Avira. It causes BSODs every off and on, but never with a code stop 0x124.

Posting this so that someone is not misguided.

Absolutely, I specified that I didn't know if that was correct or not. I am just writing out my own experience, I don't want to misguide anyone or bad-name the avira software which I used for years and always loved it.
All I am saying is what seemed to resolve the problem. I just don't have crashes anymore.

I didn't clean my pc, I didn't mount another fan or anything. I just didn't do anything aside un-install avira. Might be purely a coincidence.
Yet again, I don't want to say this was the solution, I just thought to type it out since this is what seemed to solve the problem.

You should not allow your computer to run at that high heat. It will be fatal for the entire system.
