BSODs happening at different intervals. All of them except one have said ntoskrnl.exe was the cause and at the same address. I've checked my memory with memtest for 9+ passes, ran the scannow with no violations, and updated firmware on the SSD that Windows 7 is installed on. The BSODs continue to happen.

Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
  • SSD firmware
  • BIOS Version
  • Chipset Drivers
  • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
  • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Reduce items at start up:
Your Antivirus software is basically whats just needed there.

Use the System File Checker tool and Run Disk Check:

I believe everything is update in terms of drivers and firmware.

SFC came back with no inegrity violations.

Disk Check is currently running. (posting from my laptop)

EDIT: Disk Check came back with no problems.

Also, I downloaded the latest SATA driver, but I'm unsure how to actually install them. The folder that was downloaded only had a few .sys files in it, no "setup" or .exe things.

Which SSD do you have? You list a 120GB Samsung 840 Pro. The Pro comes in 128GB. The Samsung 840 comes as a 120GB. I'm unsure which you have. You should have the Samsung Magician software with it. It should tell you whether you need a firmware update and how to do it.

Check here to see if it will help you. If you download a ZIP file, it is to be used with the Samsung Magician program or you can download the ISO file, burn it to disk and boot into the disk and run the firmware update.

OK, you're in good shape with the SSD then. I presume you are in AHCI mode and connected to one of the Intel ports. If you are, you are in good shape there.

ALSO: which sata driver are you having a problem with?

I downloaded the latest driver from the Gigabyte website for the GA Z87 DH3P motherboard, but I couldn't find an .exe or set up for the driver to install.

EDIT: Yes the SSD is in AHCI mode and I don't know the difference between ports. I just know there are 6 SATA ports at the bottom right corner of my motherboard.

EDIT2: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4519&dl=1#driver
The "SATA preinstall driver" is the one i'm referring to that I can't get to install. It says something about a USB drive but i'm unsure exactly what to do.

You don't need that one. It is used to install Windows in Raid mode. If you set up a Raid array, you have to install the raid driver for the Installer to be able to see the array. The other drivers on your site are EXE files.

Are you doing anything in particular that causes the BSODs? Are while gaming or using a particular program? Any particular activity that seem to cause the more often than others. Are you overclocking anything? what are your CPU and GPU temps running?

They seem to happen randomly. Sometimes they occur while playing League of Legends, sometimes simple web browsing causes them. There have been times when I've gotten 3 or 4 games of League (~3 1/2 hours) in and then it'll crash, and sometimes it has crashed within 10 minutes of start up.

I'm not overclocking anything, and I don't know how to monitor my running temperatures.

Also, I've read that multiple audio drivers can conflict with each other, could that be a cause (I have Nvidia and Realtek that came with some other updates I did to my hardware)? I have noticed that some crashes happen when using Skype, but it's not consistent since I was able to actively talk on Skype for 2+ hours without a BSOD

Try this. Go to Nvidia and download the most recent driver. Reset tour Windows update to 'Let me decide what to install'. Go to C:/ Nvidia, open that and you will se a folder named display drivers. Inside that folder will be numbered folders such as 314.22 and such. Delete every numbered folder but do not delete the display folder. Go to control panel, add remove programs. Delete all the Nvidia folders there, such as 3D, PhysX,Hdmi, 3D and Nvidia update. BUT, be sure you uninstall the display Driver last. When you uninstall the display driver you will be told to reboot, do so. When you start up Windows will install a display adapter, that's OK. Open your Nvidia driver you downloaded, run it and agree to terms and such, when you get to express install don't do it, choose custom install. Make sure the clean install box is checked and uncheck all of the entries they want to install except for the display driver and physX. Only install those 2. Once the install is completed, it will tell you to reboot, do so.

See if that does any better.

Download and install Core Temp run it and keep check on your CPU temps. I'm sure Asus provides you with a utility. It is usually used for overclocking but is very useful to keep check on the GPU temps and enables tou to set a custom fan profile to keep your Graphics card cool. If Asus does not provide such a utility, you can do the same thing with MSI Afterburner. It is the same type of program for overclocking but will allow you to set a custom profile and custom fan setting. It will also allow you to list certain things in the task bar and on screen display. That way you will know while gaming your GPU temps.

Arc and Koolkat are the masters of this stuff. They'll be with you for a while. I need my beauty sleep so will be off for a while. I'll be back in the morning and see how all this went. You are in capable hands.

Still it is a Storage/ ODD related issue.

Both the SSD and the HDD are said to be SCSI discs. But your storage controller driver installed is iaStora.sys ..... AHCI controller.

Enter into BIOS setup. Set the storage controller made to AHCI mode. Let us know the situation after doing the change.

EDIT: If Arc is any master at all, Essenbe is the master of that master. Essenbe is the person who taught Arc the ways to troubleshoot.... and still teaching.

Go to bed, Steve :) Have a sound sleep.

I just went to install the latest driver and I used the options you said (unchecking the other boxes and clean installing it with the custom options) and now my monitor isn't getting signal from the video card.

Set both storage devices to AHCI? The SSD is already AHCI but I'm not sure about the 1TB HDD. I will do those once I figure out how to get my monitor to display something again :/

Do it first. Then do a power cycle. Check all the power cables and connections. Check the PSU is working or not.

Okay I had to hit the reset button then the resolution was wonky.

I installed the latest driver from Nvidia, resolution is back to 1920x1080.

I checked the BIOS and the system is set to AHCI. I didn't see individual controls for each of the 6 SATA ports. Does it matter which SATA port the SATA cables plug into?
