BSOD changing from MS Word to google chrome, error 0x00000116

Hey every one!

Unfortunately, I can't really be specific as the error does not occur every time.
Recently, while writing on a paper and changing to chrome via ALT + TAB, the computer shuts down. This is usually proceeded or accompanied by graphic spasms; screen goes black, shuts down, goes back to black, shuts down again and goes finally back to black and into the blue screen.
The NIVIDIA driver got deleted (completely) and reinstalled btw.

I'd be very thankful for any help as I keep rewriting page after page and it goes on my tits really...

Please find attached whatever it is - I really have no idea what I did there... If further information is needed, I'm always happy to provide what's asked for.

Can you tell me how you obtained your copy of Windows? It appears your copy is counterfeit. You have an OEM key that is connected to an Acer/Gateway/Packard and its impossible for you to legitimately use that key on a custom build.

I don't know what key is being used, long time ago I had XP then a friend said he can get Windows 7 installed for me as he has several keys left over. Then he took my PC with him and came back with windows 7 on it – if my copy is counterfeit, is there a way to check that and to fix it?? I don't want my PC to be spoiled for such a nonsense reason…

This is why I asked, most of the time people don't even know its counterfeit but we can't help until the PC shows as being completely legal. What you need to do is buy a legitimate license key and activate it either in the System Properties, online or on the phone.

I think you have some options. Don't try to use the key again. If all else fails, you may call and ask amazon to exchange the key to ultimate. However, we may be able to downgrade. Let me ask some more knowledgeable people and I'll post in a little while when I get an answer.

Ok so we have a few options but first can you post the last three groups of number in the product key you bought? Please post that and don't continue with the instruction below until we review it. (***DO NOT POST THE FULL PRODUCT KEY, ONLY THE LAST 3 GROUPS***)

Option 1

This is the recommended action and the one that would be most successful. We recommend a clean install. This will be a fresh start and erase all data from your HDD.

What I would do is create a new disc and download Windows 7 Professional and do a fresh install.

Make sure you backup any personal files that you have on your PC. The actions we will follow will erase all data and start fresh

After installing, update your Motherboard. I suggest downloading all updates (Important -- If you download any Gigabyte software or if any Gigabyte software is installed while installing drivers, remove the program. Gigabyte software is notoriously bad and causes BSODS sometimes)

Right... By now I have given away my key and bought windows 8 - so this is no longer a windows 7 problem. I haven't yet had a blue screen since the installation (two days ago) but I had the graphic bug that usually accompanied the BSOD - "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 340,52" doesn't react any more". Is it possible that I need a new graphic card? The driver got un-installed before I put on the new windows - it didn't help under windows 7 and isn't gone under windows 8 either...

Can anyone help maybe?

I had my first blue screen with windows 8.
This time again, I was writing a paper and browsing the web (three windows open in chrome and three different word documents).

Please find attached the dumb files (I hope I did it correctly) and let me know if I need to provide further data.
Even though my windows 7 was counterfeit, the problem appears to be the same - only less frequent. So maybe the data uploaded earlier might help tracking the problem.

Again, I'll be thankful for your help!

After doing the clean NVidia install suggested by Golden, make sure that your system is completely up-to-date.

Are you running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 and has Windows Update applied all updates to the machine?

Also, please update your SF system specs, so that members immediately know from the specs that you're running win8.1

So, I had two incidents again yesterday. No BSOD but the aforementioned graphics bug. It was again while writing a paper and surfing the net for research purposes. And again I lost data and had to rewrite parts of the paper. :(
