Hi
I've been struggling with my daughter's netbook, a dell mini 1012, for a while now. At first it was just running slow compared to my other daughter's netbook, so I swapped around the hard disks and it appeared that it was the hard disk that was causing the netbook to run slow.

I've bought a new hard disk, installed it into the netbook and put the old drive into a box and now the netbook is frequently crashing and blue screening especially when copying files from the hard drive.

I have run the tool in safe mode only as the netbook wouldn't let me run it in normal mode without BSOD.

Hi

Based on the BSOD most of them refer to memory corruption... though there are problem devices that was also a cause..

So first let get the hardware out of the loop..

1. Do a memtest for atleast 6 to 8 passes for each slot 1 RAM Stick at a time....

2. Remove Mcafee and install MSE.... one of the BSOD was caused do this .... and its one of the problem device mentioned in your device manager. And MSE is light on the system... you just have 2GB of RAM

3. Your system has updates specifically the BIOS for version A12 which is marked as urgent by DELL..

Get these done first and let me know so we can move onto the next step

Thanks. I will give these a try. Hopefully will get this done in a day or 2 as I'm on holiday right now. :D

Hi, I'm back from holiday, have updated the BIOS to A12 and still getting the BSOD. Have now run the memtest, which reported no errors. The only thing I haven't done is remove the McAfee AntiVirus.

Please can you advise on next steps? Thanks.

Well just as I said as Mcafee was part of the BSOD... remove this and install MSE and provide your feedback

Apologies for the delay in providing an update. My daughter has been using her netbook now without any further problems. Seems like this has resolved this issue. Thanks
