BSOD constantly after replacing hard drive

I have an HP a1560n computer. Sure it about 8 years old but I have been running Windows 7 on it for a number of years.

Recently my hard drive died and I replaced it with a larger Western Digital drive. Since then, I the computer will BSOD even if sitting idle. Most often it is an error 0x00000124 but occasionally I get an error 0x0000000A or 0x0000000A. Here is what I have done to date:

1. Reseated all the parts I could
2. Cleaned out the dust inside (it was not bad)
3. Replaced the system fan as I got occasional errors on that but now they are gone
4. Unplugged all unnecessary devices such as DVD drives
5. Ran MEMTEST and Intel processor test programs with no errors.

I want to keep this running as my church could use it. I will run the SF_Diagnostic_Tool and upload the files. Hopefully someone can identify the exact problem.

Install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

It seems to be a very old branded desktop.

I have re-flashed the BIOS to the latest version available. It was the same version but I flashed it anyway. I have also updated to Windows 7 SP1. Everything else checks out fine. The power supply should be adequate as I replaced it about 1 year ago and did not start having problems until replacing the hard drive.

I thought I would give this one more try. The system ran fine for a few days. But then it crashed again. Hopefully someone can see something that is causing the BSOD. If I knew what it was, I would have something to work with.

Hi mosow .

Unfortunately tje BIOS wasn't updated, not do I think you would find an update for it at this point,
not to mention that HP is not offering drivers later than Windows Vista.

The bug checks are 0x124 with a consistent generic BUS error, this basically could be anything that
the CPU communicates with (usually expansion cards) seeing that you don't have any
plus taking the age of the components into account I believe its a motherboard fault.
You can be grateful about the great service you got from the PC and retire it.

The BIOS version was already at the latest available from HP, so that is why it does not look any different.

I think I have resigned myself to retire the computer. It gave me its all. As much as I would like to just replace the motherboard, I think it may be too expensive. Plus I am not sure what would fit in the case so that all of my other components could be retained.

I am happy we are seeing the same picture .
Replacing the motherboard would be useless, potentially the PSU (power supply) could go next and you'll end up
dumping more money in to with no upgrade options in the future as GPUs (graphics cards), CPUs and RAM
progress onward.
The performance boost you'll gain with a similar amount of money on an all-around update (that you might end up spending anyway in repairs if you go the other route of trying to find replacement parts) is incomparable.
You said you recently purchased a new HDD, that can be used with the new build .
(it's SATA I assume?)
