I used the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade CD to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 (32 bit). The installation was successful through the .NET upgrade, but I had problems once I installed the (57) updates. The first time I went through the process, the system froze, I had to restart in safe mode a couple of times, etc.

I finally restored the system to the state it was in before the .NET upgrade (the first restore point available - the restore to the second restore point failed). I then let the system do the .NET upgrade and tried to install the (57) updates again. The system again crashed with the dump that I am attaching. The update information shows that the updates failed and they are now queued to be installed again.

The laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T60 - just under 4 years old
Vista came with the system and was at the Syspack 2 level
Windows 7 upgrade was the retail version (3x version). I was able to install it without problems on my husband's Thinkpad T61

BSOD's still happening

I am still getting the BSOD. I restored back to a state without the Windows updates. I updated the Wireless Network driver. Then I shut down the system and all the Windows updates were applied. I brought the system back up and applied the latest Soundmax driver. I shut down the system after applying the Soundmax driver and then I got the BSOD. The network driver info says it is current and I cannot find the video card or driver under system hardware. I updated the Intel wireless driver from the Intel site.

I am attaching the latest dumps and perfmon files. Following are the details provided when I brought the system up in safe mode

Blue screen message - IRQL_not_less_or_equal

I finally looked at the blue screen message which is IRQL_not_less_or_equal. The web says this could be a registry problem. I would need to know how to fix this

Disabled gigabit network driver

I could not update the driver for the gigabit network card - I downloaded the driver, but the system would not install it. I kept getting the message that the driver installed was the correct one and the latest one. I disabled the ethernet card since I usually work with wireless and that allowed me to shutdown cleanly. At some point, I will have to figure out how to update the driver.

Thanks for the help

I spoke too soon

My system seemed to be ok and I was able to shutdown cleanly a couple of times. Then I allowed Microsoft to update my software again and then it started crashing again. I have now backed out to a clean restore (although I think it still crashes, but at least I can bring up windows). I also had used the control panel to update all the drivers from the internet - I let the tool find and update drivers. When I shutdown to activate, I got another dump which I am attaching along with the perfmon report.

Dont install all the Windows up dates at one time.

Picture on left below open Windows update. Click yellow circled Change Settings.

Right picture- Change the drop curtain as mine is. Click OK.

When updates download then you will be able to pick to install 1-3 at a time instead of 57 at once.
