I have a five month old Acer Aspire 5742Z running Windows 7 Home Premium. As soon as I bought it I burned the Image files to 3 disks and also made a System Repair disk. Yesterday it refused to boot and by switching off "auto restart" I managed to get the message "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" stop: 0X000000ed (0XFFFFFA80051a8940,0XFFFFFFFFC0000185,0X0000000000000000,0X0000000000000000)
I have changed the bios so that the CD/DVD is the first to boot and have tried both the system repair disk and the image disks but cannot repair the fault. Currently it has frozen at the blue screen but also displaying the System Recovery Options window that reads:- Operating System = Windows 7 Partition Size = 0MB Location = (D
Local Disk.
I will be most grateful for any assistance. As this laptop is only used by my wife to play card games would this machine run Win2k Pro as I have an installation disk for this operating system.
Many thanks.
