Seriously need help with BSOD.
Started 13 Oct 2013 and happens at least once each day.
Same errors every time. portcls.sys is mentioned every time. A new version of this was installed about that time when a Windows monthly update happened.
I found an older version and installed it but BSOD continued to happen. This seems to be an audio driver.

Here is a screen report:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48

C:\Windows\Minidump\101913-46831-01.dmp
C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-564442-0.sysdata.xml

I have downloaded the suggested SF Diagnostics Tool.exe and ran it. I'll try to include the zipped folder here for you to examine.

Please let me know what else I need to supply to you.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the Forum.

Norton is a known cause of BSOD's. Please remove it for testing purpose. Use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other security software:

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Malwarebytes - Free

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable!:-

Hi:

this did the trick:

"cmudax3.sys Wed Sep 3 16:13:16 2008 (48BE633C)
C-Media Audio Driver (WDM) by C-Media
Driver Reference Table - cmudax3.sys"

The only thing I tried was to remove software, and card, that came with a cheap C-Media pci audio card installed a few years ago. Instant joy.

Thanks.

Fungus
