I was just dozing off since it was late and when i woke up to turn off my rig it gave me this BSOD.

I googled the problem and most says its caused by bad sectors. One of my HDD monitoring software says it has 1 bad sector.

I've run memtest before for 16 hours+ and it gave me no error so it's definitely not my ram.

Just wanna confirm it with the experts here.

btw in the the event viewer my parameter 2 is C0000185. And im not on a SCSI disk so........

also what does this mean?
it's 10 min before this 0x0000007A bugcheck

These were related to memory corruption. Usually a driver. There are 3 issues that need addressing

1-sptd.sys

Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

when you're done you can use this Freeware:

MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM (MagicDisc) in its place

Using MagicISO to create ISO image files

2-RTCORE64.sys
You have a driver from 2005 that is a HUGE cause of BSOD's in win 7 called RTCORE64.SYS, it is the msi afterburner driver (used in overclocking). It needs at least to be updated and if it cant it needs to be removed.

3-Your Kaspersky
Kaspersky is a frequent cause of BSOD's. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Two files need addressing. RTCORE64.SYS
the one that is loaded (rtcore64.sys) is from 2005. Rtcore32.sys (?) shouldnt even be there and probably can be renamed to *.bak

msi afterburner is a great program since it can control my fan speed depending on the temp
although this happened recently w/ the msi afterburner

if all else fails. any suggestions on other programs that can do this?

ive removed both ( kaspersky and daemon tools). Is bitdefender a good antivirus?, i plan on testing it since it has high remarks in reviews.

btw am right in checking the rtcore64.sys version under its properties? it says it's created in 2010

The most recent dmp I have indicates you have the 2005 RTCORE, Kaspersky is still installed. Bit defender isnt one I would use if I were you.

I dont know where the file is located you are looking at.

See snips

AND SPTD.SYS IS STILL INSTALLED.

oh sorry, here's a new dump attached. i have removed kaspersky and daemon tools (SPTD driver incl.)

i have also installed the latest beta msi afterburner because the previous one i installed was their latest stable build from 2011.

can you pls recheck if it's still using the 2005 rtcore? the date created on the new rtcore is 3/20/12 (from the installed folder). Just to be sure

and what anti virus would you recommend that doesnt cause BSODs?, freeware or not

what's wrong with bitdefender btw?

Sorry but even in the new DMPS the newest DMP file has the same name, date, and time as the most recent one from before.

Kaspersky is still loading, sptd.sys is still installed, and RTCORE is still from 2005.

Do you need help with these?

i have checked the drivers in C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rtcore64.sys, sptd.sys and kaspersky.sys files you posted above is gone

there's this rt64win7.sys that's created on 5/22/2009, is it related to the rtcore64.sys?

um how do you create a new dump file that contains all my latest changes?
