BSOD - Driver power state failure

Hello,

I'm brand new to the forums. Usually I'm able to sort my own computer problems (with the help of good ol' Google). However I've been stuck with this for some time now. BSOD, Driver_power_state_failure. I can't really pin point a particular time this happens I'm afraid. I built this PC myself (my first one) about 7-8 months ago(?) and haven't really had any problems.

So far, I've reinstalled windows and updated all my drivers as recommended from many Google searches but I am still getting the same BSOD and frankly if I can't find the answer via Google I'm pretty much buggered . After reading the posting instructions I've used the diagnostic tool, so I'll attach the zip.

Any help or advice would be most welcome and appreciated.

Thanks very much guys.

Steve

Vayzaroth,

Welcome to SevenForums.

Help us to help you by carrying out the following:
Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

thanks

Excellent.

I just started the day again and am catching up on answering the easy ones I say that because sometimes bsod analysis can take some time and research

Hang in there.

Vayzaroth,

Your mobo desperately needs updating.
Here is the website you need:
ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS M5A97 PRO

You need to update the bios (far, far behind).
The latest is: version 1208

You need to update your Chipset Driver:
Latest is: Version 3.0.820.0&3.0.825.0&

You need to update your USB driver:
Latest is: Version 1.14.1.0

Other driver updates may be needed, but those are the three that are relevant to your problem.

Thanks very much Karlsnooks, but the problem still remains D: Its happened about 3 times in the past 5 days. After updating the bios and rebooting it told me to press F1 for setup, I did that but it just left me with a black screen.
