Hello,

Are you doing any overclocking? If so, reset to stock settings.

I suggest that you remove MSI for now; perhaps you can install it later, when the BSODs stop:
Code:
NTIOLib_X64.sys Sun Oct 04 21:28:48 2009 (4AC94BD0)
Install these updated Realtec Ethernet drivers: Realtek

Also, run Data Lifeguard; see if the hard drive is having any problems: WD Support > Downloads > SATA & SAS > WD Caviar Black

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response. I tried to overclock but the system does not boot when I make changes in BIOS or hangs after 2 mins when Windows loads. I have reverted to stock settings but still get BSOD. I have done a complete reinstall several times and still get BSOD or PC shuts down suddenly before I get a chance to update certain drivers. This did not occur before.

You said remove MSI. What do you mean?

I will install Realtek drivers and run lifeguard

I will let you know.

Hi Jonathan_king,

One of my hard drives is failing. Clicking noise now heard. It passed the test at first but is now failing all test. I am desperately trying to get important info off it. A 1 terabyte harddrive down the drain. Not buying WD drives again. Thanks for your help! Any idea in getting info from failing drive?

So can safely say that the failing hard drive causes the CLASSPNP.SYS issue?

Don't worry, Western Digital is a very reliable brand. Not to discourage you, but just 2 weeks ago, I RMA'd a Hitachi laptop drive, and the very next day, I RMA'd my own Samsung 3.5" drive. Buy whatever has good reviews, and most importantly, keep good backups. When my Samsung drive started to go, I had no problems because I was all backed up.

CLASSPNP.sys is a Windows hard drive controller driver, so when it is blamed by a dump, it is a clue something is possibly wrong with the drive. I'd go ahead and get a new drive.

I suggest just using Windows Explorer to pull all the data off.

Thanks Jonathan_king,

The failing hard drive is not the one with OS on it. What I was expecting is that if the hard drive is failing the system would pick that up with SMART or not recognize in BIOS. I was not expecting crashes and BSOD since it was not running the OS.

Hmmm, but then again I guess that was it's way of letting be know.

Your thoughts?

Hello,

Even if the OS is not install on that Hard Drive it can crash because that hard drive is connected and detected by the OS. You could disconnected that hard drive and see if your getting the BSOD. Most of the BSOD can caused by a failing device or device driver. In your case it's the hard drive.

Hope that helps,
Captain

Thanks Jonathan_King,

I was not expecting BSOD with this hard drive since it was not running the OS. I thought the fault would have been picked up by SMART or not recognized in BIOS.

But I guess that was the way it pointed out the fault.

Your final thoughts?

Hello,

Try installing these updated Realtek Ethernet drivers: Realtek

If the BSODs persist, enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html
