64 bit Win 7 Home Premium OEM on an MSI laptop
System is 6 months old, the OS installation is a few hours old.

This BSOD has been harassing me ever since I got this thing and I would appreciate any help you guys could give. After using the computer out of the box for a few days and encountering the BSOD, I decided to do a clean install of Win7 just incase it was any of MSI's "utilities" that was causing the problem. So I did a clean install of Win7 and didn't install any other programs and still the BSOD commeth.

I did a system restore back to the manufactures default image with the hopes of selling this thing at a loss, but I can't in good conscious give this BSOD factory to someone without trying to fix it first. System restore was a few hours ago, nothing new installed, BSODs every hour or so.

Attached is all the goodies, I hope I did that right.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.


If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

We usually prefer to have two or more so we can spot trends. This one crash was related to a driver taking too long to respond. Possibly your video driver nvlddmkm.sys


I would re-install the newest driver available using this method.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver.

In order to do that we recommend using
Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

no problem, more is not a problem as i am the proud new owner of a mini dump every hour or so

i'll do a clean upgrade of the video drivers and wait for the dumps that come after

Since this is a clean install and you have already done the video driver I might start looking at the video card, psu, etc.
