Hello,

I have had 3 BSOD's this month (during surfing).

I got no idea why this is happening now, I don't remember having any updates lately. I do think there was an issue with the mouse/keyboard settings, but I don't believe this is causing the BSOD's.

Meanwhile I did a memory test, chkdsk,... but no problems detected so far.

Thanks in advance!

I am running an "old" computer (>10 years), and I want to make it last as long as possible :-)

I did the chkdsk /f and I ll do chkdsk /r tonight.

I forgot to mention: windows also automatically performed (on the 23th) a "check for consistency" of disk C: and did some correcting of errors.

*edit: chkdsk /r result: no errors

The auto check is usually reindexing and or renaming system files. That takes place occasionally on my desktop also which has 3 SSDs and 1 HDD.

I haven't observed @axe0 on the Forum recently, our resident BSOD expert. I sent a notification (blue text). Last post was May 2020! Hopefully another forum member well versed in BSOD will reply.

Meanwhile, you still suggest to do the "seatools" drive check? Or is that no longer meaningful, since the chkdsk revealed nothing.

chkdsk is a different test than Seatools.
Couldn't hurt anything and SMART test and Short Test will let you know if your drive is going or gone bad. It can also perform the function of repairing bad sectors under basic test. If the sectors cannot be repaired it will fail the drive test. My external hard drive is a Seagate 3.0 4TB.

I check my drives relatively regularly, say every month or so with seatools, as well as regular weekly backups and scan for pups, malware, unwanted programs, etc. Better safe than sorry.
If you drive is beginning to fail, or doesn't pass, well, you need to backup everything and purchase a new drive.

I'm not a BSOD expert, I was hoping by now another forum member with that expertise would have posted on your thread.
If we don't get another member to chime in, I could direct you to another forum if you wish.

Thank you for your feedback. I don't have a seagate drive. This app also works for other type of drives?

Also good to know, my old C: drive I only use for running win 7. I added an new extra drive (D:) last year (when I also did a format C: and re-installed win 7) for all my data (docs, music, pictures, etc.).

So far I haven't experienced another BSOD, fingers crossed.

Yes, I wouldn't have suggested Seatools for Windows if it didn't.
Actual drive repair option, I believe is only for Seagate drives. chkdsk /r basically the same function
I test everything on my Win7x64 HP SSD. Like I stated, I check my system regularly.
Seatools maybe every 6 months or so!

Didn't think of that. Thanks for the heads up. Several OPs could use your BSOD expertise.

Maybe a PM would work?

FYI: today the computer froze (no BSOD) and I got a message 'warning' below regarding the display adapter.
After reset I checked the 'device manager':

However, there is nothing unusual...

Ok thnx, I send him a PM.

Meanwhile, today I had a new BSOD, after several 'screens freezes'. In case it is my display adapter that is causing this problem, why now and what to do about it?

Not going to work, he gets many private messages for bsod help requests. Best to just stick to the thread and get input from others as well.
