I am helping a friend with this problem where all the sudden he is getting the BSOD Error PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BCCode: 50.

I have tried many many things and nothing seems to work. I have tried to boot into safe mode and it gets to a point and just reboots.
I have also tried different ways to get into a command line or recovery mode to fix the Partition or OS but every time it fails with a BSOD.

I even tried to take out the HD, put it into a external case and plug it into my machine but it BSODs my machine with same error message. Also tried to boot into a command line and then plug in the HD but same results.

My thought is that either the HD is gone or a recent Windows Update did something. But everything I try fails, I can't even format the HD to re-install the OS because as soon as Windows files are loaded it crashes.

Is there anything at all I can try at this point? There is no backups to go back to so before I go and tell him to buy a new HD I want to be sure nothing can be done.

I got a mini dump from when I plugged it into my computer and it BSOD on me so here is the information...
Please keep in mind the attached ZIP was generated using my machine since it is the best I can do but it is not troubled machine.

When you say there are no backups do you also mean there are no restore points? If you think you may have system restore points, this will help you use them. See option 2 and pick a date before this started.

Where would I check for that? I have gone thru each option on the screen where you press F8 and nothing works.

EDIT: And Yes sorry that is what I meant there are no restore points to my knowledge

If you attach his hard drive to your computer, but boot from your OS, just using his as a spare drive, can you open the drive and see the contents? If you can, as a safety precaution, back up his personal files to an external source. also, with his hard drive connected show me a screenshot
(http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html) of your disk management and tell me which drive is his. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/274797-disk-management-post-screen-capture-image.html

If you can't boot into your hard drive with his hard drive simply attached, his drive is dead. If you can get as far as your BIOS and get into there, with his drive attached see if your BIOS can see his drive. If you can't get into bios with his drive attached or your bios can't see his drive, I see no other explanation than his drive is dead.

Look under storage configuration or something similar and see if you see his drive, or look under boot options and see if his drive is seen by bios. Make sure your drive is listed as first hard drive to boot from. Try putting DVD/CD as 1st boot device and your drive is second boot device. While still in bios, put the Installation DVD in the DVD drive, then save and exit bios.

It seems that is probably the answer. The drive must be dead.

Did stopcode 50 occur just a few days ago. You installed the 12 windows updates (patch tuesday August). Computer rebooted and did config the patches....no problem. Next boot you get stopcode 50. Is that what happened? If so... I have the solution.
