BSOD-esque crash whenever doing something visually intensive

So in the last month my computer has started crashing. For the most part it only occurs when watching videos (flash online, or avi on my computer), but it has occurred while browsing or writing in word, but I suspect it's something to do with the graphics card. My googling to solve it suggested that, and I installed a different driver, but it's still crashing.

What is doubly confounding/frustrating is I can't just reboot my computer when this happens, I have to actually cut the power to the computer, and restart it that way.

I figure if I can't solve this I'll just reformat the computer and hope, but I want to avoid that.

Thanks

Hiya and welcome to SevenForums!:orb:
Code:
BugCheck 116, {fffffa8005e754e0, fffff880051d6668, ffffffffc000000d, 3}

Probably caused by : nvlddmkm.sys ( nvlddmkm+933668 )
Code:
BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa80064a6038, be000000, 800400}

Probably caused by : GenuineIntel

The problem is caused by your graphics driver. Run Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU)
Make sure you tick the Uninstall C:/AMD and C:/NIVIDA folders while you are in DDU when you are done running DDU install your graphics driver again and you should be good to go! This is the guide for DDU: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/367109-display-driver-uninstaller-how-use.html

Run Furmark, if the temps goes too high stop the test. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

Sorry for the delay.

I did as you said, and I ran the FurMark test, and very quickly (and startling me) the alarm went off, as my temperatures went above 100C in under a minute.

I have previously uninstalled and installed my drivers, but that seemed to make no different before (though I tried once more)

-----

Okay, after I wrote that section I ran the test again to see how hot it would get in a minute. Last temperature I saw was 108C and then the computer crashed. Took a while to get it up again.

So it looks like this will still be an issue, even with the drivers uninstalled/reinstalled.
