Ok, I think I've got this fixed finally. It seems to have been a memory settings issue. Going to the support forums for my G.Skill ram I ended up increasing the voltage from the auto setting of 1.8 to 2.1V, I increased the MCH (north bridge) voltage from the auto settting of 1.1 to 1.3, and changed one advanced timing setting, trFC and the system has not crashed/BSOD all day while doing regular activities.

I'm currently running my Q9550 at 2.97Ghz, a small over clocking, and my RAM at 1050Mhz (it's DDR2 1066).

Hopefully this will help others, check the ram settings. Thanks for all your help!
