BSOD every 30-40 minutes - APC_INDEX_MISMATCH

I've recently started to get a BSOD at extremely frequent intervals, and I'm not sure what the problem is. Report attached.

Hello and welcome Michael now I am not that good at reading thee dump files yet but I do see some references to Windows updates and some that are related to recent software's you might have installed.

So can you remember if you have done any Windows updates that are related to new softwares?

Ran both chkdsk tests to no avail. The computer doesn't seem to stay active for long enough to make a recovery disk.

I haven't updated the computer recently, and I don't think I updated any programs around the time the screen started happening.

and if necessary use this How to record Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 to a USB device and boot a computer from it it means you will need to make a bootable stick or disk and set the BIOS to first boot to it it run independent of Windows and will scan everything from power up.

But do have a look at Greg's excellent tutorial for fixes first. If you don't for example have an installation disk it will tell you how to make an ISO disk from a legit source. As long as you have the activation code for the correct version then it can also be used for a clean install after pulling off data you need - see this for that.

Okay, so I made a Windows Recovery Disk using the computer, and restarted and set the BIOS to boot from disc first. However, instead of showing me a Windows screen, it goes to something called the ASUS Preload Wizard? This seems to want to reinstall or recover the entirety of Windows, and not repair the boot files. Any tips?

Michael if you set the boot order to the optical - first option then it should boot to that Kaspersky and I am guessing the problem is that Asus have got something on that machine that is overriding it, and I expect it is something to do with doing a factory restore on the machine. I had a similar thing happen with this new Asus laptop of mine.

My problem was the EUFI BIOS was set up to boot to the master boot record whatever I did and I had to change some of the BIOS settings especially the CMS as 7 is now considered a legacy OS?? before I could boot the 7 up.

Just as matter of interest is the machine laptop or desktop because you have listed it as a desktop down in the left hand corner and a Google shows me it is a laptop??

Some system specs would be handy too mate as this machine according to what I see comes with any one of the three "i" series intel CPU's and a dedicated graphics card.

It's a laptop. This model:

Notebooks & Ultrabooks - K55VM - ASUS

Except it's running Windows 7, and it has the 750GB HD i think. It also has 8gb of RAM.

And I'm not having trouble booting into 7, it's just a problem with getting to the actual Windows System Recovery screen instead of the ASUS System Restore screen. The ASUS screen does seem to override the Windows screen, and I'm not sure how to work around that in order to get to the Windows System Recovery menu.
