Heyyyy Seven Forums!
I'm back, but wait for more! I've been in 7 for a few days, went over to Ubuntu. I went to go back this evening and got a typical BSOD. The BSOD was telling me that the system was very mad about a Smart Defrag 2 driver. So, I restarted. Same thing. Well, no dismissing this one I guessed, so safe mode. Safe Mode = Backup Partition, so it went ahead and pretended to do something. Sure enough, reboot. Fail, nope nothing changed. Again at fixing, fail nothing happens. Restore Point, fail, nothing happens. Now, I have had this software on here for several reboots, and Ubuntu on here for a year and a half now. So, I went ahead and deleted the driver it complained about. Well, reboot. Nope, nothing again. So now how about that registry. That probably still had something in it. I cannot boot Windows, so no regedit. So, how about in Ubuntu? Nope, nothing. So, what do I do? I'm outta luck and I know I can fix this. Any ideas?

Thank you for any help!

Okay, I have narrowed it down a bit more. Restore points won't work. The driver it does not like was deleted, by me to remove the issue. It did not remove the issue. :(
But, I have the command prompt. So, I figure I can use regedit and the program's uninstall exe. I don't remember, but how do I run a exe in safe mode to uninstall? Or can I?
The path is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Smart Defrag 2\unins000.exe
So would I type that into the CP, and somehow it run? I have tired it, but it says it cannot locate "C:\", as if the drive is not mounted. Any ideas?

Although that is a nice link, it would not have solved the issue. 7 would not boot at all. it would not boot into recovery mode. You cannot run a program if a computer won't boot. But, I figured no one would respond, and I would let the thread die. But, since it was bumped back up, I will say what I did. After much failure, it finally booted into recovery mode, including the bad driver. I went in, deleted the program, and deleted the driver. Now the system would boot but was very, very slow. The system was the only thing running, and was using 100% CPU and HDD. So, after having issues with it doing anything for a few days, I finally decided that it wasn't going to happen. I just went into Ubuntu and nuked 7.
I will be starting a new thread maybe later about reinstalling it so it won't nuke all of my data, as Toshiba seems to like blind guesses.
Thanks for trying though..........
